In Short
Tourists and locals of all shapes, sizes and piercings cruise this renowned boardwalk at all hours. Weekends are the busiest, from the turban-wearing, guitar-playing man on rollerskates weaving in and out of the crowds to the oiled-up hard bodies passing by the tattooed set. Find everything from tie-dyed T-shirts to advice from the self-proclaimed "world's greatest wino/sex counselor." Street performers juggle chainsaws and ride unicycles in front of beachfront cafes and shops peddling typical souvenirs.

One of the best free attractions in LA (well, if you dont count the money youll invariably pay to park), this is a great spot for tourists and locals alike. It can be a great place to get together with old friends, to go on an inexpensive date or just to relax in the summer sun. Check out all the freaks, the bodybuilders and everyone in between. Tourists can get good deals on all sorts of souveniers and t-shirts, but do shop around a little before making a purchase

Talk about your eclectic group of people. This unique walk along the beach offers it all. Shopping, food, muscle beach, bike riding and roller blading etc From the early morning continuing until dusk this area is teaming with the unusual and the strange. The normal ones, those are the usually the tourists. Bring your bike or skates and travel along the bike path into Santa Monica to the pier and back for a great workout along the shore. Take your patience with you if you intend to walk because the crowds can be a trying experience. Get there early since parking is a hot commodity.
