best place, great cold beer, poor service, like chips, quite pleasant great patio, like fish, great game

Fabulous Irish pub with an extensive draught and bottle list. We were able to do an entire flight of five beers from a local brewery (Craftsman) that isn't open to the public for tours. The waitress knows her stuff! Just make sure you're ready for a rowdy crowd on game days.
Drink here, Do NOT eat here...
My fiance and I had lunch there for valentines day. We both got the meat-pies. We both got sick. Very sick. Like, gut rot, sick.
Our only conclusion is that we have food poisoning, because the meat in the pies was bad.
It's been 24 hrs, and we both still feel nauseous and can't stray far from the bathroom.
We'll never eat there again.
Horrible experience!.
I was at this place on a Friday afternoon for lunch with my buddies and was expecting this place to be as good as the reviews sound, but i was very disappointed.
I order for a special and it came out with hair in it. When i asked the waitress to replace it for me, she got the same frigging dish without the hair and lied that the dish was completely remade. I knew it was the same dish because i had chipped out out a very small part of the fillet and it still looked the same when it came back.
I guess i got unlucky at the Lucky Baldwin's Club. It was a nightmare, i will never go back to this place again and I DONT recommend it!
Yard House is much better!.
My boyfriend drags me with him to Lucky Baldwin's from time to time. It's ok once in a while, the food is just ok and the beer selection is great. However, the service is bad, it always feels dirty. My hair gets caught in the plastic lawn chairs outside because they are all cracked. Restrooms never have toilet paper (not to mentions they are filthy). There is always an old man sitting in the corner gawking at all the women. My bf tells me that he's the owner which I find hard to believe as I witnessed him slapping one of the waitress' on the butt. Strange.
skip it.....Yard House is down the road!
Best Local Pub/Dive. my boyfriend actually recommended this place our on way back home from a trip. He's been going for years. We went in on a sunday afternoon and it was the best vibe. the game was on, there was a mix of twentysomethings, frou frou people, locals. Pretty relaxing. The service took little while at first but the servers know there stuff when it comes to drink recommendations and good conversation. I wouldnt strongly recommend the chicken pie (good but a bit too salty) but the fish and chips was tasty. Definintely try the Pig in a Blanket!! Beer recommendations would be the Craftsman Ale, Reinaert Flemish Amber Ale, Youngs Double Chocalate Stout. Not recommended: Lindeman Framboise (taste diety) . Overall - will definitely go again
great beer selection, but poor service. When my friends and I went here after work once, we got seats right at the bar. We were here to drink, so we assumed sitting at the bar would ensure our glasses were never empty. We soon learned that there is no way to get a beer quickly here. While the beer selection is great, we didn't try as many as we would have liked just because it was such a hassle to get the bartender's attention! And this wasn't a busy Saturday night: it was an average happy hour at a dive bar. An empty glass got no service, waving and saying "excuse me" received no response, it wasn't until we overheard the bartender's name and started calling that out that he would actually serve us. We were women who were being good patrons. There was no reason for the bartender to ignore us like he did. While I do love belgian beers and they have a large selection here, it is not enough to make me go back.
Good local bar. When I first started going here, I will have to agree with some of the other reviewers that I noticed a smell similar to recently-cleaned-up-vomit. That used to be a problem but I actually haven't noticed it lately so maybe they took care of it. Even with the smell, it is still a nice little local bar with a large beer selection and good crowd on weekends. Definitely worth stopping by for a few drinks with friends if you are in the old town area.
Great beers, good food, poor service (at times) SMELLS LIKE V0MIT.
I have been here a 1/2 dozen times, and will probably keep going, because it is the best place to hoist a pint while the match is on. The food has been consistently good, the beers consistently excellent, but the service is spotty. My biggest complaint is the smell. The first few times I thought I arrived right after they 'cleaned' up from someone v0miting. I have since discovered it always smells like this. I *think* it might be some cleaner or combination they use, but what I don't get is how they don't do something about it. I bet there isn't one person there that doesn't agree it stinks, but no one complains? Weird.
To be honest, unless you just have to see the match that night, or have a taste for an exotic beer they have, go somewhere that won't leave you nauseous.
AVOID THIS SMELLING DIVE.
Lucky Baldwin's is far from lucky. Only go there if you do not want to have a good time. Besides the overwhelming smell of throw u p and BO that would even cause a maggot to hold its breath, the staff is far from helpful. Not only do they not wait on you, I had to chase them down more then once to get a drink, but they do not bring you the drinks you ordered. On top of that they are extremely arrogant and think that there bar is not a dive bar that smells beyond the stench of throw u p. The manager there is rude and should not work with people. He could not handle the fact that we were playing speed quarters and having fun. He so rudely came over and shut off the music to get us to stop when he asked the people surrounding us if we were bothering them, they all said no and to ?Play On?. We continued to play, until this time the manager was too chicken to come over and kindly ask us to stop that he had to send one of his monkey boys over to do it (BTW- every time they came over to tell us to stop, they never asked to refill our empty drinks). By this time tired of the smell of throw u p and unable to have a good time we left.
If you want to have a good time in Pasadena, check out Barney?s Beanery. The staff is friendly and will bring you flowing amounts of beer and do not care if you playing drinking games, because they realize that they are a bar and to make money to have to sell alcohol and let people have a good time.
great beer, good food, good people. Lucky Baldwin's is by far the best place to stop for a drink in Old Town Pasadena. The beer selection is vast and delicious, and the bartenders and waitstaff are more than happy to guide you through some of the more exotic selections and help you choose a perfect pint. The food is quite good, also - try the meat pies, bangers and mash, and English breakfast. During their Belgian festival, they have quite a tasty menu of Belgian foods as well. The patio is quite pleasant and offers more legroom than the attractive but often crowded interior. Still, there's nothing about Lucky Baldwin's that I wouldn't recommend.
