Editorial Review for Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen – by Stephanie L. Smith
The Scene
With its wrought-iron balustrades, airy green courtyard and crisp white linens, the Jazz Kitchen is decidedly more upscale than the name implies. Brought to Downtown Disney by Ralph Brennan of New Orleans' Bacco and Red Fish Grill fame, it's not quite ready for prime time. Come for the fine live jazz or to drink in the atmosphere but wait a month or two for the kitchen to catch up with its heritage.
The Food
They say it's impossible to have a bad meal in New Orleans. Please note that the Jazz Kitchen is located in Anaheim. For the best value, stick with basics like the pasta jambalaya or fried green tomatoes with shrimp. The bananas Foster brings the house down with its flaming floorshow. At a tableside burner, brown sugar, rum, banana liqueur, fresh bananas, ice cream and nutmeg are ritualistically transformed into a pillar of fire.

Insider Tips
What to DrinkPromising cocktails like the mint julep and hurricane are best left at arm's length.
ParkingGet an additional two hours of free parking when you get your ticket validated.
Know Before You GoOddly, a reservation will get you a table upstairs inside the "fine dining" area far from the courtyard and live jazz. For a livelier time, just walk up and happily take a seat downstairs.

We were looking for a good live music lounge to hang out in and drink. Unfortunately we got there just in time for the last song they were playing, but boy were they good. If the drinks were anywhere close to decent we would come back for sure. However every drink we tried from the Mojitos to the martini's were just awful. No one finished their drink let alone ordered another one. The $25 plate of jambalaya pasta would not have made the cut at Denny's, let alone here. It was noodles, ketchup and overcooked chicken. And this was supposed to be a "house specialty". The apertizer sampler was equally appalling. The artichoke dip tasted and looked like it was made the day before and had been drying out ever since. The chicken was cooked at least twice as long as it should have been and the calamari was decent. The coconut shrimp were fantastic though! We should have just ordered that. If only the drink were anywhere near acceptable we'd return for the great band. However never again I'm afraid
Pros: Music
Cons: Food, Drinks
