What Our Expert Scouts Say

Smoke House Restaurant
November 22, 2012

I love the old-school feel of this restaurant, which has been around since 1946. It's dark with the red vinyl booths and specializes in prime rib, burgers, salmon and other basic dishes ripped out of the 1950s and '60s. No matter what you get, you have to try the garlic cheese bread to make the trip complete.

Been Going There For Years and Years. I absolutely LOVE this old-fashioned Steak House. The garlic/cheese bread is NOT to be missed. The Prime Rib is excellent. The drinks are good and strong. I prefer eating in the bar area, darker and sometimes entertainment. The prices are most fair. Highly recommended

Good Food, Nice Place, VERY EXPENSIVE. The food is really good. Their fampus signature garlic bread is fantastic. The atmosphere is 1940's steakhouse.

The problem: It is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE!!

Not to worry though, go before 6 PM and they have Early Bird Specials. The special are still kinda high priced, but do-able.

Give it a try.

Note: The valet is a rip-off. Don't pay them $5 to park your car, there is plenty of street parking right in front of the place.

My favorite Friday night!. I absolutely love The Smoke House Restaurant. My boyfriend and I go almost every Friday night. We love the garlic cheese bread, prime rib, and bbq-ribs very much. The drinks are really strong. Service is great and food is wonderful. Highly Recommended!

Great Garlic Cheese Bread. We seem to forget about the Smoke House. We have had many great dining experiences here. The Garlic Cheese Bread is really great. I would highly recommend this place if your in the Valley.

Traditional. If you don't want to go to a place that looks like it's straight out of the 40's, don't go The Smoke House. Great Martini's, they bring them in their own little pitcher on ice, ensuring you an ice cold martini down to the last sip. Both times I've eaten there I've gotten the Prime Rib. They have great Prime Rib. My wife has had the Baked Stuffed Shrimp. Definite flashbacks of my childhood in Rhode Island with that. The shrimp were stuffed with a crab/bread crumb mixture. Very tasty. We like eating in the bar.

Great tastes at a timeless location. I have had both lunch and dinner here on several occasions. Always consistent, excellent food. The roast turkey dinner is the best I have had anywhere. Drinks are the close to the best in town, and the huge bar and lounge has a inviting atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Early bird specials are a real bargain, and portions are probably too large for most people. From my first visit in the early 80's until now I haven't been dissappointed. The restaurant sits across from Warner Bros. studio complex and seems to hold a lot of appeal to the movie crowd as lunch time is usually very busy.

Past its Prime. There's no reason to go to the Smoke House except for their world famous cheese garlic bread. It is soooo good. Best I've ever had. It's really that simple.

The menu hasn't changed since the restaurant opened many decades ago. And that wouldn't be such a problem if the food were still good meat and potato fare. But it's not. I hate to say it, but you can almost get comparable if not better food at Sizzler.

The bar area could be very classy and should have capitalized more on the Swingers craze in the 90s, but it never got with the program. Instead, it's cheapened itself with promotional crap from beer companies and plastic streamers. Too bad. They really used to have a good thing going.
