Editorial Review for Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey – by Gayot.com
The Scene
When travelers hear the word Ritz, no matter where they are in the world, they know they can expect understated sophistication and excellent service. In Marina del Rey, guests are treated to the added indulgence of a casual-chic, marina-front setting. It's no wonder this is one of the most popular deluxe bunkhouses in L.A.
The Details
One of only five Ritz-Carltons in California, this high-rise is lined with marble and outfitted in traditional style (fans of the modern beware). From the bustling lobby lounge to the grand guest rooms furnished with tasteful art and private balconies with city and marina views, the hotel stands as a unified front for unadulterated luxury. The restaurant, Jer-Ne, serves well-executed California cuisine. It's no surprise that this property is a popular location for meetings, events and conferences. Weddings are also a specialty, hosted in the beautiful banquet rooms. You'll be hard pressed to find something the staff doesn't do well, from pressing suits with style to mixing a perfect martini for consumption on the teak wood deck.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Ritz in Marina Del Rey in September of 2007 and the process was anything but exceptional, it was actually pretty mediocre. We had been set up originally with a coordinator that stood us up, and then were set up to partner up with the manager, who at the end of the day did pretty much nothing. I thought that when you paid the type of money we did that we would be amazed with how well they handled our special day, instead I made countless phone calls to even get a call back. We reserved a block of rooms and the phone number that our guests were instructed to call was the gift shop! Needless to say, this was upsetting to us and our guests. On the day of our wedding our honeymoon suite was a disaster, dirty dishes from the morning were left there, it smelled like BBQ sauce from the chicken tenders my bridesmaids had five hours prior, overall the room wasn't picked up! My husband was overcharged money and he left 2 messages to get this resolved and he's yet to get a call back after one month and now his AMEX is having to deal with the dispute. We think the place is beautiful but we would never rate them high on customer service...I don't think we'll ever recommend them or stay at another Ritz Carlton again!!!!

I just went to a wedding that was held here this past weekend and simply knowing that it was going to be at the “Ritz” I knew it was going to be nothing less than extravagant. The ceremony was held outdoors overlooking a beautiful view of the ocean. The pre-reception lounging area was absolutely gorgeous and chic with its modern white furniture decorated tastefully with pink flowers. The reception room was breathtaking and the dinner was exquisite (both filet mignon and lobster tail)!
