The Scene – Just five blocks from tony Rodeo Drive, this four-story daffodil-yellow building easily blends into a residential side street across from a plastic surgery center. Hip, young professionals mix with more established businesspeople and locals in the small lobby, which flows into an eclectic bar-cafe appointed in brass, gold, red and black. Tea candles line mosaic tile walls, and mirrors make the room appear larger than it is. An intimate pool area is surrounded by palm trees and gardens; at night, crowds gather in heated cabanas around the purple-illuminated water. –…

Whether you're traveling on business or for fun, this hotel provides privacy and contemporary decor in a city where there is a lot going on. It is centrally located but tucked away. The boutique hotel offers various options as Bed and Breakfast packages, Web Only Service, and Riding in Style. The hotel itself is a great getaway where people cater to you just because you're you!

- Cons: Limited Parking Spaces
A Gem!

My super-picky mom came to visit me and wanted to stay in Beverly Hills. Knowing that she had stayed at the Hotel Bel-Air and Ritz-Carlton previously (and in better economic times), I knew the standard she was expecting. I hunted around and checked out some of the ritzier hotels that were smack-dab off Rodeo, but then I stumbled across this one. It is small, elegant yet still groovy-stylish, and very personable. It is close enough to the stores yet just far enough away from that whole shopping-tourist-traffic crunch. Just to make it officially great, it was significantly cheaper than some of the bigger hotels I was pricing, especially with its website deals. Mom really liked it and will recommend it to all of her high-maintenence ladies-who-lunch friends. Yee-haw!
- Pros: location, great value, exquisite pillows
- Cons: housekeeping iffy, parking
