Incredible Service.
Our service was great and the waiter was adorable. Ambiance was romantic and definitely recommended. For the music,,,I would recommend jazz or house and the people were cool. Portions were good.

GOOD FOOD good place to bring adate 50's jutebox.
Good food not expensive Night manager always comes over to welcome me. Didn't like there breakfast food was not cooked right. Good place to go on the weekends on your date. 50's jutebox can play anytime during the night. Specials daily. Waiters and watresses sometimes rude and aloof. Open on Saturdays until 3:00pm.PS review of the sherman oaks Mel's

average meals- go for old familiars.
Mel's is one of those places you go and dont expect a fabulous meal. You will probably get decent eggs or a hamburger and shake that isn't bad but is just so-so. You will walk out feeling as if you had nothing "great". The interior is kitschy and cute and the table-side music is charming. It is definitely where to go if you have people visiting who are un-adventurous and want "american" food. dont expect much.

mel's rocks.
Great food and service extremely warm and friendly. Did not wait too long to receive my meal. Only inconvinience was waiting too long at register for cashier to arrive while servers took care of other custumers, on what seemed like a busy night.

More trendy.
Than actually good. Pretty good food, especially breakfast. Decor is darn good. The dining area is way too small for the large groups I see coming in. Very noisy and uncomfortable.

Made famous by "American Graffiti," this '50s-inspired diner is the quintessential Hollywood combination of faux reality and nostalgia..
The Scene
No, it's not the original--that was in San Francisco and was demolished shortly after filming--but the decor holds enough retro-chic for even a die-hard Gen-X'er. Blow-up movie stills paper the walls and tabletop jukeboxes pulse with 1950s tunes.
The Food
Let's face it, Mel's is not known for haute cuisine, but it does serve some classic diner eats. The Famous Melburger is actually fairly standard, but the Hangover Five Alarm three-egg omelette with cheddar and chili is a dragon-breath wake-up call, especially if you've spent the night clubbing. The Elvis Scramble--with chorizo, peppers and Monterey Jack--also hits the spot. Go all out with the lumberjack breakfast, a hearty mix of eggs, pancakes, potatoes and ham served all day.

Better than expected.
Most diner food is mediocre. Not Mel's! There were too many choices--it was great! The food was delicious and the service was friendly! Sit outside if you can--great to people watch.

Like stepping onto a music video set!!.
Mel's is sooo much fun! and the later it gets, the more fun it becomes. It's a crazy place to be around 2 on a Saturday when the clubs get out, and don't be surprised to see a few famous people!

More choices make happier customers.
I've always heard that Mel's Drive-in was another Denny's. Imagine my surprise then when I entered one the other night and found a menu with more than a handful of choices! And some were even rather healthy! And for those not concerned with their waistline, there's plenty of excellent fattening breakfasts for you to choose from, all what the customer's looking for at 1:30 a.m. A great choice after a long night.
