Wonderful Brunch, Staff and Food!. As a denizen of Silver Lake, I adore brunch runs to Madame Matisse's. They have a wonderful staff, great Benedicts and are dog-friendly at the outside tables - they even let me get chicken in a to go container for my adopted shelter doggies! They have service to their exterior tables, so you needn't worry about tying your pet up until you run in to order and get your food. Their regular menu has something for everyone, and their seasonal specials never fail to delight.

Currently I am simply besotted with their Truffled Eggs Benedict - it is a special for now, but I can only hope it graduates to the regular menu. It makes my weekend to have a lazy morning walk to a pleasant destination, friendly staff, delicious fare, and an eye-opening espresso. I couldn't ask for more!

Bleary-eyed Silver Lake locals come in weekend droves.. Located a couple doors down from Millie’s, which is usually mobbed in comparison, this tiny neighborhood café is best known for its all-day breakfast. Inside, a few tables and stools perched in the window are crammed into a well-worn space featuring high ceilings, exposed bricks and a compact kitchen close enough to hear the constant sizzle of the grill. The breezier seats are the two-tops lining the sidewalk outside, shaded by a striped awning and plenty of umbrellas. On the menu, breakfast favorites include French toast served with orange syrup, a ratatouille skillet of stewed vegetables topped by sunny side up eggs and chorizo, and the hearty, meat-packed “chef’s revenge,” a hangover helper if there ever was one, with eggs scrambled with corned beef hash, home fries, sausage, bacon, cheese and salsa. You can also create your own three-egg, five item omelet (choose from fillings like mushrooms, spinach, chicken, smoked salmon and goat cheese). The coffee comes fresh-roasted from Culver City’s City Bean Coffee. Bistro-style lunch options include pressed paninis with combinations like salmon, avocado, roasted red peppers and capers; hummus, chicken and feta; and mushroom, red pepper, brie, spinach and olive tapenade. A few traditional sandwiches (tuna wrap melt, turkey burger) and fresh salads (beet and apple, nicoise) round out the menu.

Central to the Silverlake/Los Feliz breakfast scene.. I like Madame Matisse, but agree sometimes it can be Miss. I haven't had any problems with cold dishes or bad coffee, but every now and then the food is kind of bland. However, I like the location, its convenient for me to meet friends that live on the other side of town there. The staff is friendly and the patrons patient given the tight quarters. Parking is the only continuous problem since this venue competes with other similar restaurants close by. I can say I like this place, and have no problem recommending it, but its not my favorite breakfast place in town.

Strike 2. After my second visit, still horribly underwhelmed by this restaurant. Now I know that silverlake/echo park isn't known for their taste in food so, granted, butl after a cold, tasteless omelet and equally cold, over cooked potatoes...i went back AGAIN just to be fair. Guess what? The food was terrible again. Okay, terrible may be a bit harsh but my wife ordered the berry pancakes and another omelet. Both freaking tasteless, the pancake in particular (although pretty) was just completely bland. The case is officially closed on Matisse for us. If the "taste" of your food is your prime directive, see you at The Griddle or Marston's.

Cute, cozy and sophisticated bistro. I love Madame Matisse. There is only room for about 20 people to eat at any given time, but the food is so good, and the ambience so inviting, you won't notice that the restaurant is rather petite. The breakfast is always tasty and cooked right to order, and the coffee is yummy too. I asked my boyfriend what he'd say about this restaurant -- he is a man of few words -- all he said was "GOOD!" So that sums it up!

Fulfilling breakfasts!. We had dinner here one night and it was intimate and simple, and we could see the chef through a part of the window making our meal from scratch. At dinner it's light and satisfying bistro fare, but what I love this place for is their breakfasts. I always tend to judge a breakfast place by the quality of the potato side dishes - the house potatoes at Madame Matisse pass my test, which means they aren't mushy, overcooked, or worst of all - FROZEN. These puppies were sauteed and then baked and made of cut up REAL potatoes. My eggs benedict was excellent, and I could tell from the folk sititng next to us that the omlettes were pretty tasty too. Come for breakfast on a Saturday morning and then walk around the adjacent farmer's market. A lovely weekend morning!

Yummy & Funky. I absolutely adore Madame Matisse. The service is attentive and friendly, but not pawing.

Their breakfast is slammin'. My favorite choice on their menu is the Spinach Salad which includes bamboo hearts, pumkin seeds, carrots, avocado, and lots of other yumminess I can't think of right now. It's all lightly doused with their house vinagrette. Frigging yummy!.

I like that it's a small place on the funky end of Sunset. It makes the dining experience intimate. And, if there's a wait, it's well worth it.

A Family Staple. This is one of our favorite restaurants and well worth the Sunset traffic to get there at night. The duck breast with cranberry is so moist and the calimari is flavorful and always fork tender. Save room for the warm flourless chocolate cake! Though I fit a party of 7 in for my birthday, and everyone loved the food, I wouldn't recommend the squeeze and the 99 cent store is a needed diversion from the long wait. It provides unconditional good food and the staff is friendly and attentive. If you live in LA, you must discover this restaurant!
