Editorial Review for Duke's Malibu Restaurant & Barefoot Bar – by Stephanie L. Smith
The Scene
If Duke's were any closer to the Pacific, it would cease being a beach bar and start being, well, very wet. When the tide is in, waves crash just a few feet away from the bar. Patio tables sit on a triangle of Malibu Beach and invite patrons to dig their feet in the sand while sipping a drink and watching the sunset. For more action, take a seat at the polished teak bar where as much attention is focused on the scenery inside as out.
The Draw
Laid-back locals and tourists share the view. Guys sport Hawaiian shirts and sunglasses while gals wear spaghetti straps and sandals. Toast Duke Kahanamoku, granddaddy of surfing and patron saint of the establishment, with a rum-laced mai tai or a pineapple-crowned blue Hawaiian.

Insider Tips
ParkingThe valet lot will set you back a few bucks. If you'd rather parlay that into another mai tai, try finding a spot on the ocean side of PCH instead.
The ExtrasToo chilly? Head to the secluded third bar inside the restaurant. All three offer awesome views.
Happy HourVisit weekdays between 4pm and 6pm for half-off deals on the bar menu. Drinks are regularly priced.

I just moved to Malibu and out of all the restaurants on pch, and in the entire city of malibu, Duke's Barefoot Bar is the best place to eat. When I first walked into the bar, I was greeted by the waitresses as well as the manager. As soon as I sat down on the patio, i was greeted immediately. My waitress was informative, conversational, very witty! (not to mention beautiful). The service definitly made my experience great, the staff seems like they are family, the waitresses seem like best friends, and the bartenders make a mean drink . (I recommend the Hawaiian Ice tea! ) Even the barbacks were friendly!! For food i recommend the Mango BBQ Burger, also, my wife ordered the panko Opah dish and loved it . Overall, the waitresses made the restaurant fun and the food was delicious, and i didnt break the bank! GO! ITS WORTH IT..PLUS YOU GET TO SEE DOLHPINS AND SEALS WHILE U EAT, ITS LIKE SEAWORLD, BUT BETTER.
Pros: Fun servers
Cons: no atm around restaurant....BRING CASH
