What People Are Saying About Pig N' Whistle
Featured Review

The Scene – Back in the 1920s, when movie palaces like the Egyptian reigned supreme, stars like Clara Bow and Fatty Arbuckle held court at the Pig 'n Whistle. After painstaking renovation and restoration, this gem has reopened, serving an eclectic, though no less ubiquitous Hollywood crowd. The front room is lively, with a hopping bar scene you can watch from comfy banquette seats along one wall. In the back room, tables hold larger parties, and several canopy beds offer that wacky new gimmick--dining in bed. – – The Food – The menu is pricey but adequate; heirloom…

Weekend Beer
by theman1965
Great place to grab a beer at the weekend, parking is always difficult and its always busy but there is a nice vibe to this place. I dig it.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! You're better off eating at McDonalds

Once a bright spot on tourist alley (Hollywood Blvd.) the Pig & Whistle has become simply foul, and that covers both the food and management. Crap for service. Awful, truly awful. And they're trying to become some exclusive club on Friday nights, charging to get in (with rude, aggressive, goonish security guards to boot).
Save your money and avoid the headache. You're better off eating at McDonalds two blocks down.
Wow. What A Scam.

This place is a joke & a scam.
I don't know why so many others here rave so much about the architecture--This place looks just like any ordinary Irish/British dump you'd find in Boston, NY or Philly. At least the dumps in Boston leave you drunk and full.
The happy hour drinks were limited to draft beer & 'well' drinks, which for some reason didn't include martinis... just one shot of one type of booze w/ one mixer only. (other places count fake martinis as well drinks)
OK fine. Fiance forewent his preferred Newcastle for something cheap, and I got a couple Cape Codders. Again, it was a one-shot-only of booze drink. Not much to tell.
The service was slow and bad, but that should be expected from a dumpy bar--No qualms there. The FOOD is the much bigger problem.
Fiance was starved and so ordered a cheeseburger- not on the happy hour menu. He said it was fine, but the price ($12 or $15 bucks??) was a little much for such a dirty dump.
I wanted to keep it cheap, so I got the 'chicken fingers' from the HH menu. I quote 'chicken fingers' because it was not chicken fingers.
This will be hard to believe, but --I swear-- it was ONE CHICKEN FINGER sliced in 4 pieces the size of a french fry.
I couldn't believe it! $6 for A SINGLE chicken finger???
Scam Scam Scam.
Never again will I be taken by P&W--Paying out $60 to leave still hungry and with no buzz is just not cool. A regular side of chicken fingers (more than one finger) and a cosmo at regular price from another establishment would have been cheaper, and more fulfilling.
excellent restaurant!

When my mom and I went on a trip to L.A, the girl who worked at the front desk of our hotel recommended Pig N Whistle, so we decided to try it out. I'm so glad we did! This restaurant was by far the best one I ate at on my trip to Los Angeles. I ordered the california nacho's, which were honestly the best food I have ever tasted. The plate they give you is huge and I could only eat half (and i can eat a lot of food). It was only about 10 dollars so it was a really good price. My mom was also very pleased with the menu and also the service. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who plans to go to L.A. I can't wait to eat there again when my mom, my friend and I go back to L.A this march.
- Pros: the food, the location, the service
- Cons: nothing
Great Hollywood Experience
by MaggieB777
After reading the previous reviews, I was hesitant to have our Valentine Dinner at the Pig N Whistle, even to the point that when we walking to the restaurant we almost chose the Italian Restaurant around the corner! I am very glad, however, that we stuck with our original choice. From the greeting at the door to the final taste of our delicious desert, it was first rate. The ambience of the restaurant is true old style Hollywood, the service was prompt and pleasant and the food was delicious. I am not one to usually take the time to write a review, but this was a very good restaurant and the reviews I had read did not seem to do it justice. I appaud this restaurant, would highly recommend it and will definately revisit it in the future.
- Pros: Decor, Service, Food
