friendly bartenders, enjoy couple drinks, love st nicks, good place, great jukebox, not friendly owner, not good burger
You had to be there.... My classmate and her St. Nick (alumni) went to celebrate our straight "A" status in school. The jukebox makes for great entertainment...They said that Sunday nights are usually really relaxed, but the three day weekend allowed for a full house...The bartender made my first drink like it was juice, then the drinks after that were great (thanks to the alumi ordering for me) they treat you better when they know you...The atmosphere is cool, I like the dark pub feel and dim ligthing....The highlight for the night is when "BABY GOT BACK" BY SIR MIXX ALOT came on....I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe....We all clapped for the dancing (if that was dancing that went on), whatever it was made everyone feel good...I have to commend people who don't take everything so seriously and definately don't mind being silly...I love the place...It was just to crowded to get onion rings....That was my first time and I will go back but only with the alumni so I can get good drinks.....I had a good time, no drama at all....Bring 5 dollars and get 20 songs on the jukebox and just enjoy your company....
Sorry you had a bad time!. Just wanted to respond to the reviewer below, sorry that you had a bad experiece at Nick's, one of my fav spots. Are you sure it was the actual owner that waited on you as he is rarely there? Also the entire staff bartenders etc, except for like two guys is Mexican last weekend most of the crowd on the far side of the bar was Mexican. Hope you'll give it another chance.
OWNER is not friendly to non-whites!! Do not go there.. I'm a White male, and I with my friends who happen to be Mexican and Black. I was amazed on how the Owner reacted to my friends. Whenever I would go buy a round of drinks for my friends he would be very helpful and friendly but when my friends went up there they were treated like dirt. I was so amazed this guy is still in business. Not the best bar in L.A., parking is horrible and the owner is not friendly to non-whites.
LA dive bar. St Nick's is a good old fashion dive. Drinks are pretty cheap and you never know what you are getting into. Some nights the place is totally dead, and other times you can't even move it is so packed. If you are a bar rather than club person this is a joint to check out.
To escape the Hollywood glam, visit this Beverly Center-adjacent Irish pub for basic grub and brew..
In Short
Located across from the Beverly Connection in a mellow part of Third Street, this Irish bar delivers a straight-up pub experience. The dark-wood bar, stained-glass lamps and spacious booths offer a relaxed atmosphere for hanging out. There are 18 bottled beers from which to choose, and paper shamrocks and leprechauns splattered on the walls, along with a map of Ireland painted on a mirror, lend themselves to the kitschy, fun vibe. The grub to get is the fried cheese sticks.
hit or miss. I've been twice. 1st time, geate music. Good bartender. Second time, I went for the burger. Tasty, but small. NOT THE BEST burger, but I haven't found a good burger in LA. Also, second bar tender was slooow and unattentive. No music, but a Laker's game, followed by the "Evening News!!!" DRINKS, GREAT SIZE/VALUE. Was not crowded either time.
nothing special. the atmosphere is really laid back. nothing fancy. drinks are ok. Came here on a saturday night and it was a nice change from the stuck up crowd just a few blocks away on sunset. The parking is awful!. It's all street parking and only meetered spots. (the small streets in the area have required parking permits). Would only go again if all i wanted was to chill and drink.
I live here. This is my spot. i love nicks. the bartenders are great. the music is starting to get better. the drinks are cheap and on the weekends its a good place to chill if you get there early. during the week after work and you can have a nice quiet drink. marlon and jeff are two great bar tenders. every once and a while we get the knucklehead who wants to start trouble but on the weekends there are two great bouncers
Best Burgers in town-even the veggie burger. This pub seriously has the best burger in town -- and also great french fries. My best friend is a vegetarian, and she said the seasoning on the veggie burger is also yummy. I go to this pub often for a burger because whatever seasoning and dressing they use is a secret recipe that makes them stand apart from ALL others.
Good Fun, Ridiculous Burgers. This is a good spot to go have a few drinks before you head out somewhere else, or even stay if you don't feel like getting all dressed up. The best thing by far is their burger! They are very overlooked and the few people that I have talked to about them agree that they are the best in town. Excellent meat flavor and a sauce that tops it off perfectly. I always want to get 2 because they aren't incredibly big. Highly recommend to try the burger so you can at least have something to compare it to.
