Editorial Review for Gladstone's 4 Fish – by Jennifer Schwartz
The Scene
For years, this seaside destination has fulfilled "Beach Blanket" fantasies for countless SoCal tourists. Most locals won't admit it, but they too find the sweeping views, laid-back atmosphere and sun-soaked patio hard to resist. It's popular and usually packed, but with your feet in the sand and a handful of peanuts, the wait isn't so bad.
The Food
The menu changes daily, but is always filled with grilled, steamed or broiled fish--and lots of it. Start with the Boston clam chowder served in a sourdough loaf; the milky concoction is loaded with tender clams. For shellfish lovers, the fresh Maine or Aussie lobster is pricey, but still a better deal than the Alaskan crab, which can be bland. Run-of-the-mill sides--baked potato, rice, corn--lack panache, so opt for the crunchy homemade potato chips. And don't bother with the Titanic-sized desserts. Calories are better spent here on buttery sauces or creamy chowder.

Ah, Gladstone's....paradise with good food - and great (and strong) drinks! Try a Mai-Tai, segue into a bowl of the best clam chowder anywhere, maybe a nice fresh piece of salmon and then that Mile-High Chocolate Cake (one piece can easily feed four). Casual, fun and delicious
Pros: The View, the setting, the drinks, the sourdough bread and the dessert
Cons: Can't think of a single one

One word: location! Fantastic! This place doesn't look like anything special from the road - the flags sort of looked like some sort of ship re-creation; but once inside, you'll find a charming place. The seafood is FRESH, like just out of the tank fresh, and not just the lobster but a few of us got the swordfish and you can usually tell if it's been sitting around in a freezer for a week. This was fantastic. The service was great - we were well taken care of, and when they mistook one of the sides (for a x2 side dish) for one of us, the correct side was promptly delivered, with the mistaken side left with us. Our waiter was very attentive - very experienced, giving great recommendations. It's a little pricy here for every day, but you certainly get quality, and the portions are of good size. Definitely give this a go - thumbs up!!
Pros: Fresh seafood, service excellent, nice ambience, great value
Cons: Not necessary to charge for parking, but they do!
