Crooked business

They charged my credit card for three years although I told them I wanted to pay monthly membership by check with no commitment....they did not want to give me a refund...totally unwilling to negotiate anything except the last month that needed to be charged !!! Are you joking...mgt was totally useless, uncaring, and didn't even apologize..!!! This club like so many corporations are all image but no substance to back it up...!!! Most good reviews are from mid-March 2007...strange no....????

Not service of a luxury club

I agreed with previous comment that the salesperson is rude trying to force potential member to pay a joining fee, which I refused and was ready to walk away.

Some of the facilities are quite run down. The brown leather couch looks worn out. Some of the towels have yellow stains, but remain in circulation. Some of the staff also try to lock the door 15 minutes before their supposed closing time. This perhaps reflects the fact that the reception desk personnels are paid only to the time the stated closing time. If this club wants to have all members out of the club by, say, 9 pm, then the closing time should be listed as 8:30 pm, to allow member 15-30 minutes to change and shower. I suspect the club is trying to save money by paying its staff till the closing time, say, at 9 pm, and have all members out of the facilities at the same time, say 9 pm. That's kind of cheap. If you want to say that your closing time is 9 pm, you should pay your staff up to 9:30 pm. Otherwise, you should say that your closing time is 8:30 pm, so that your staff can leave at exactly 9:00 pm.

Terrible Health Club!

Spectrum is overpriced, run down, has rude sales staff, uncaring rest of staff! Would NOT recommend!

Good:

Not crowded compared to other cheaper clubs in the area.

Good machines/equipment.

Bad:

This club has gone downhill over the years. It is no longer much different from the competition except the higher monthly dues. Defective equipment is not repaired in a timely manner (current ETA on repair of the steam room is 6 weeks!!!). The current staff is not customer service oriented like they used to be.

-towels provided many times have red and/or brown stains

-clean up crew vacums right next to you while you work out (I have asthma) Why can't this be done after hours?

- shampo, soap etc have been replaced with low grade products that smells like industrial cleaners (other locations still have normal retail grade products)

- what happened to the schedule posted by the workout room? It is dissapointing not to be able to complete your workout because some outside martial arts club has an unanounced event at the location!

club with a good clean pool

it is hard to find a clean pool, let alone in a health club. For years, I have had to compromise my gym because of the cost of swimming. My wife and I recently relocated to Bridgeport so we joined Spectrum and we got a good club and a GREAT POOL. I am sure all of the services are good, but I had to share with my fellow swimmers out there...

• Pros: Clean pool, nice gym
• Cons: no complaints
