Dean and Richard!.
Dear John's sure is a fun place to go on a Friday or Saturday night! Drinks are affordable ($6 - $8), and while it is full on the weekends, it has never been so packed I couldn't get a seat at the bar. But the best part is seeing Dean and Richard perform! Those guys sure give everyone a good time! Don't be surprised to see people getting up and dancing!
I love Dear John's and I would happily spend every Saturday night here. It's always amusing! :-)
You'll feel welcomed here. This place is a diamond in the rough. Have only been here twice in the evening but the afternoons are fabulously interesting. You'll never know who you'll meet - some young kids who are big Lakers fans or an older gent who must watch the local news at 1pm. Although their daily specials are mostly Mexican, they make delicious clam chowder on Fridays. Sliders are pretty good. You must try the onion slivers. Oh, and they make a mean bloody Mary.
We Love it at DJ's!.
Richard and Dean are there every Friday and Saturday night and they are the Best Entertainers in town! They both play horns, keyboards and stuff and play all of our old favorites, everything from Glen Miller to Johnny Cash and Toby Keith. Dean was born to entertain and couldn't ask for a better backup man than Richard. If you go, ask them about the Keytar.
Ramon is there a few nights during the week, is quite excellent and offering a more relaxed atmosphere.
The food, service and drinks are all excellent and the drinks are both good sized and moderately priced.
unique, cozy, romantic, funky. Dark, old-timey bar, but not a dive. Best bartending on Monday & Saturday. Friday & Saturday more lively, great music, friendly clientele. Many regulars. Special place.
Great Music and Great Food.
Great little blast from the past. The food is really quite good. Great little red vinyl oversized booths, dark lighting, big inviting bar.... the drinks are cheap and the food is great.
Dean and Richard play on Friday and Saturday night and it is the coolest RETRO horn duo I have ever seen. FUN FUN FUN.
Classic steakhouse w/ great entertainment. What a great joint in the classic sense. Really small but a real trip! Regulars are hilarious. Food is overall good and fairly priced. Entertainment is 6 nights a week, believe it or not. Weekly is good but duo on Fri. and Sat. nights is a must see. Play multiple instruments and literally rock the place. Drinks are good and strong. Service excellent. A fun place.
A fun local bar and grill with the feel of the 60's.. Dear John's is a throw-back to the local steak/bar formated restaurants of the 60's here in Culver City. Small, dark, great cocktails, ample parking, good service, and pretty darn good food for the price. To be fair, the food sometimes falls short, but not by much and everyone has an off-day. Fun mixed crowd and it's family friendly. Good specials every week that are affordably priced. I would recommend coming in early on a week-end and trying Rick's Ox-tail soup before the football game come on and have a cold beer with it. Fun little place to take your wife, family or date to without getting too dressed up or make your wallet hurt. So, drive on down to Dear John's off of Culver Blvd. and Sepulveda near the 405 Fwy. and enjoy a more relaxed time with friends and family.
Cozy Lil Date Place. My husband brought me to Dear John's for a date night. I wanted a good filet, and he had read reviews this was the place to go. When I walked in, the atmosphere was a pleasant surprise. It has an old school vibe with big comfy corner booths, ultra low lighting, and a nice piano player off to the side. The staff was welcoming and very friendly. Couldn't have asked for better service. The drinks were good and strong :). Only complaint was our filets were a little overdone on the outside, but the inside was absolutely perfect. I definitely recommend for a date night. The crowd varies in age and is great for a good laugh once they have had a few. Enjoy!
Last of its Kind. We love Dear John's for the atomsphere. It's a real drinker's restaurant, and liquor is very reasonably priced. The naugahyde banquettes and paneled walls bring me back to dinner with my folks in the 60's. The piano player is great. Food is hit or miss. Steaks are often really good, as is the french dip but I'd stay away from more complicated menu choices. There's an interesting array of characters there on Saturday night, some of whom have had a couple two three drinks, which makes this place a lot of fun.
Hit and miss. We tried the allegedly excellent prime rib and found it to be tough, inadequately seasoned, and overcooked. (We asked for rare, I swear.) It's worth the extra money to go to Houston's and get the prime rib there. The filet mignon, on the other hand, was great - my wife liked it better than the bone-in filet from Fleming's - I didn't like it quite that much but I definitely liked it.
