Editorial Review for S & W Country Diner – by Kim Cooper
In Short
Always packed with workers from Sony, this comfort-food haven serves home-cooked favorites fast, friendly and filling the plate. Vintage wall advertisements and ever-present coffee warming on the old-fashioned stove suggest grandma's kitchen--but grandma was never this busy. While healthy diets are accommodated, almost any sandwich can be turned into a melt, and seasoned curly fries and meatloaf are specialties. Pancakes can be customized with crumbled Oreos or corn and Ortega chili.

After politely suggesting to the owner, Michelle that customers would be tended to more efficiently if a host/hostess were hired, she commented that "we've been doing it like this for years." What's she's clearly not aware of is that this restaurant has notoriously bad service, mainly due to the fact that the servers cannot tend to their customers who are seated because they are constantly having to seat people. After suggesting to Michelle that prices can be raised to cover the cost of a full-time host/hostess, she refused to take our order and walked away. I urge people to not dine at S&W until they get their act together...which may be never, because "we've been doing it like this for years."

Just like Joe's in RB this palce can be packed and often is. The service is outstanding. The eggs benedict are to die for. People in the past have said their staff is rude. I eat there almost every day and it is consistantly dynamite. Parking can be tough, try the free garage at the end of the block off washington. this place is seriously great and I would be here anyway even though I am blessed to be a mile from this seriously great resturant Mark Braun Culver City
Pros: killer food
Cons: parking can be tough
