Always packed with workers from Sony, this comfort-food haven serves home-cooked favorites fast, friendly and filling the plate. Vintage wall advertisements and ever-present coffee warming on the old-fashioned stove suggest grandma's kitchen--but grandma was never this busy. While healthy diets are accommodated, almost any sandwich can be turned into a melt, and seasoned curly fries and meatloaf are specialties. Pancakes can be customized with crumbled Oreos or corn and Ortega chili.

RUDE Waitress!

I've been eating breakfast at this diner for years now. At the beginning, service was always pleasant but as the years went by one waitress in particular as gotten extremely RUDE and snappy! And I don't care for her reputation, so I'm going to reveal which waitress it is. She's the biracial lady, you'll sometimes find her reading a book during work.

If you're on a mission to find the best corn beef hash in LA, you can stop looking now.
Come here for their hash and eggs and waffles. Its worth it. Come through their old screen door (yes just like at mama's house), sit down at a table covered in checked tablecloths, and order some good ol country homecooking.
I rotate through their corn beef hash, country fried steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and waffles.
While you wait enjoy all the old school knick knachs they've collected on their walls. Old farmhouse pots and pans, untesils, milk jugs, signage, all of it takes you back.
You get all kinds of people at SW, from older couples with their newspapers, college kids and young adults with their puppies, to business men grabbing a bite to eat at the counter before work. I love it!

Best pancakes and friendliest service in LA!

I saw an article in LA Magazine listing S&W as winner of Best Breakfast and they were absolutely right. I went on a very busy Saturday and I was quoted a wait time of about 10 minutes and was seated in less than five. The service was super friendly and the pancakes were Amazing so was the coffee - beats Starbucks hands-down. The prices can't be beat, this is my new regular place for weekend breakfast. I love that you can get breakfast or lunch at any time. I highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys great breakfast at great prices and friendly service. It's also close to all the Culver City movie theathers which is convenient.
