I've gone to Cook's nearly ten times for dinner now; part of what I love is how each time has been a different, but wonderful experience. The menu is constantly changing, with a few absolute customer favs that stay on as staples. I can bring my meat eater buddies who drool over the slow roasted brisket, or vegan friends who can choose from an ever-increasing menu of innovative "faceless" dishes. Some of my favorite appetizers are the crabcakes and the blue corn crusted tempeh. They pair well with a glass of (well-priced!) wine, which the waiters have always been helpful in recommending. Experimentation is the name of the game here. If you're feeling out-of-the-box, try attending one of their monthly "sustainable supper" dinners with all locally grown vegan fare. Some dishes are still works in progress, but they're always, always wonderful to try. And the best part--Jenny is right there to talk about them with you! I will warn that certain dishes on regular nights may be sold out because the place takes such pride in making things fresh; extras are never left sitting around all day (I'll get you one day turkey meatloaf!). My best advice is to try the place three times. It's like the love that you didn't notice at first, but grows over time. Or you can order an AMAZING Jivana vegan cake to go (How do they make that faux buttercream so good?) and fall in love right away like I did!

Solid and casual, w/ a vibe that is a notch above diner, Cooks was definitely cute and had LOTS of vegan options and delicious sweet potato fries. However, I wasn't blown away with anything and found that while the food was good, it wasn't anything to write home about. Great as a healthy, fresh lunch place for those working in the area but nothing I'd drive w/ friends for dinner. At least the night we were there, service was PAINFULLY SLOW...

Double Dutch is a great lunch spot - they offer a wide variety of salads, vegetarian, and meat dishes. The salads that come with the meals are filling - full of mixed lettuce and chopped vegetables. The meals also come with a choice of two side dishes - the vegetables are amazing! I could have been content to just eat a full plate of vegetables alone. They were thinly sliced and grilled - flavored with a perfect blend of "something." The raspberry salmon is unique and amazing. Their sweet potato fries are also some of the best I've ever tried. Portion sizes were great - I left feeling full, but not overstuffed. Everything was prompt and fresh, as well.
