The service is the WORST in the South Bay

After many years of eating at Ocean Diner, we just had to stop going. The service has always been awful and finally it just wasn't worth the aggravation. We continued, however, to stop occassionally for some dessert to go. On Sunday, when we stopped to pick up dessert, we couldn't believe how rudely we were treated by the staff. Not only did they ignore us by counting the register while we stood in front of the dessert case ready to place our order, they proceeded to answer the telephone while we waited and waited. And then SURPRISE, the dessert we had so patiently waited for was sold to the customer on the phone. The customer who called AFTER we had arrived. Two of the servers were so rude to us that I asked to speak to the manager. Turns out the OWNER was out of town. REALLY? I would like to tell the Rick Hankus that his servers are rude and ignore his customers. We will not be back to Ocean Diner for a meal or even to get something to go. We have too many other local restaurants that deserve our support and provide outstanding customer service.

Best place for Breakfast in South Bay

My fave to eat breakfast in South Bay. Fresh ingredients, great service and superb down home cooking. Lunch ain't either.

Good breakfast

This place gets a little hectic when it's busy, and the high school waitresses aren't the most attentive but the food is dependable and the place is fun. The Ralphs parking lot is easy to get into and there are chairs for waiting outside. Vegetarian options aren't hard to find and the menu is fairly straightforward. Perfect for Sunday brunch.
