Editorial Review for New Orleans – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Caribbean colors and Bourbon Street trinkets deck the walls, and the regulars reflect the diverse personality of the Crescent City itself--with a little bit of dis and dat, it's not the typical South Bay "krewe." Chef Cassandra flies in seafood and sausage daily from Louisiana, which translates into appetizers like crab cakes and alligator on a stick. There's also sausage and shrimp jambalaya, seafood gumbo, fried oysters and po'boy sandwiches.

My husband & I had decided what we were going to order before we left home, and I knew I would try the macaroni & cheese because of the rave reviews. It was "to die for", by far the best macaroni cheese I've ever eaten, even better than my mothers. I also ordered the oyster & shrimp po boy sandwich. My husband ordered the jambalaya & catfish and ate part of my macaroni & cheese. We had also planned to have the delicious peach cobbler, but were too stuffed to endulge. Chance, our gracious & attentive waiter suggested we take some home, but we said no. Now here it is 4 hours later, we're home, and I'm wishing for a dish of Cassandra's peach cobbler. Oh well, maybe next time. We're having girlfriend's lunch next Saturday and guess what? We'll be back at New Orleans. Give them a try. Excellent seafood, desserts and exceptional service.

We don't eat Cajun often, maybe it's a little to spicy for us. Never had Gator before, but now we are hooked. The atmosphere at this place is lovely, simple, down to earth, casual as we are, bring your own bottle of wine. Even though we're not huge fans of Cajun food we will be going back as often as possible. The service, well, does the fact that we over tipped the waitress on purpose mean anything to you. We were VERY impressed, never felt more at home. Excellent "homemade" Peach Cobbler, incredable Mac and Cheese. Well, everything is "homemade"..... xo, thanx Chef Casandra.... !

Pros: Great food / GREAT service / Very at home feeling

Chef Cassandra's menu reads like a cheat sheet of Creole cuisine.  See the full editorial review.
