Aweful food. Menu consists primarily of fried seafood, which isn't too hard to screw up, yet they did. Everything was dark brown and tasted burnt. This place is a dive bar and should be reserved for drinking purposes only.

Salty bar

This place is fantastic.. its survived Hermosa from being a salty beach town to a multi-million dollar homes fest. The Mermaid looks like a traditional sea side dive bar with wood panel walls, a piano and lots of seaside photos. The drinks are strong and cheap but the real secret to the Mermaid is the delicious food - the steak is fantastic! Weekdays are better than weekends for less crowded scene.

• Cons: some times overcrowded

It's the "Regal Beagle"

This place has a total "Regal Beagle" (from Three's Compnany) type atmosphere. It's a really fun bar to hang out with friends. You'll mostly find a lot of the locals hanging out there.
