Best Sushi Bar in LA

I go here every time I'm in LA. I ask the sushi chef to make me whatever he wants and it's all very good. Nice master chef too. Can't go wrong and if it's happy hour the price is right.
not the best service

While the sushi chefs are delightful, the onwer (the WARDEN who guards the door) is not friendly at all. If you go for "happy hour", but sure to arrive promptly at 5:30 or you will not get a seat at the bar. And heaven-forbid you SHOULD sit at the bar and ask to save a seat for your friend who is parking the car! You will immediately get a scolding that they "do not save seats!!" OH.. better yet- sit at the bar, and order a beer while you're waiting. That really irritates him. Quite honestly, I have enjoyed this restaurant for many years now, but lately I have been very disappointed in the treatment I have personally received (again, NOT referring to the sushi chefs). Maybe I'll just take my $150 cash down the street to Club Sushi instead.
- Pros: delicious specials, great head chef
- Cons: small bar, unfriendly owner
ok

This place was ok. I just moved to the area and have been trying few places from Manhattan Beach area and most of the sushi place in Hermosa. They are just all about the same. Service is ok, food is ok. Ambience was just alright too. Sushi seems average. I can go back to pick up food-to-go, but I don't know if I want to sit and wait and tip. Maybe I expected way too much?
The Details on Sushi Sei
The Extras:
The sushi chef is known to get creative, so if you're in an adventurous mood and not too worried about how much you're spending, order omakase.
Know Before You Go:
While there are a number of rolls offered, the raw creations tend to take center stage. The tuna sashimi carpaccio--delicately sliced pieces of fish lingering in a light ponzu sauce--is a popular choice.
