In Short – Eternally tan 20-somethings frequent this beachy Irish pub. The barkeeps are friendly and so are the patrons who casually sip microbrews and martinis from comfy bar stools packed around a mahogany bar. The crowd dances to bands that take over the small stage during the week and to DJs who spin '80s, Top 40 and techno on the weekends. A patio out front offers an excellent people-watching spot.
UFC 83 Night
by serio310
Wanted to see UFC 83 at HB so headed to Patrick Molloys. There was a cover even before 7pm! Instead I went to Dragon with no cover and spent the money on beer. After a good time at Dragon I headed for Patricks to give it a try. The bouncer refused to let us in because I had "baggy" pants. I took a quick look at the crowd and found baggier pants on guys, not to mention the bouncer himself. If the dress attire was casual it would have made sense but again, taking a look at the crowd it clearly was not. Disappointed, but spent money somewhere else. NEVER COMING BACK.
- Pros: Next to Dragon
- Cons: Security, Parking, Cover
WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY BAR LIFE
by Musiq143
1st off the line was stupid...They only let ppl in ever 15 minutes, and they don't care if you're a girl, they'll let a line of 20 guys go in before you
2nd the atrocious looking security was RUDE, & CALLED PPL CHEAP because they didn't want to pay him $20, PLUS the COVER FEE ...I've gotten into some of the hardest places to get into in LA on a Saturday W/O having to wait in line and not pay a cover
3rd the lady that took our $ for the COVER FEE looked like she didn't want to be there and was also RUDE with her nonchalant attitude
4th when we finally got in the music was played my some OLD LADY who didn't have a clue that the ppl didn't want to dance to her music selection...even though she at least was nice
5th the drinks were cheap but SUPER WATERED DOWN..I felt like I ordered juice, so then I asked for my 2nd drink strong, and it was juice again...the upside was that the bartenders at least were nice
6thThe crowd was CREEPERS anything from some 40 yo Alec Baldwin look alike, underaged kids, and a PREGNANT lady
if you still decide to go here GOOD LUCK, I went with 10 plus girls and we all had a crappy time, except for our 1 friend that was SMASHED from shots we took BEFORE WE GOT there
- Pros: nice bartenders and dj
- Cons: every other staff member was RUDE, WATERED DOWN DRINKS, CRAPPY MUSIC
Fake Irish Pub
by fionnmaccumhaill
I'm new to LA and wanted to find a good Irish Pub so I decided to give Patrick Molloy's a try.
Unfortunately, the only thing Irish about this pub is the name and a couple of Irish whiskies they
have at the bar. Just because you give your bar an Irish name doesn't make it an Irish Pub.
I know many people enjoy hip hop music and watching UFC while drinking brews, but this
can be found at almost any bar. Give me a real Irish bar with a wide whisky selection,
friendly atmosphere, and a live band that sings the old favorite Irish tunes that you can sing along with.
