In Short – Just as the electric guitar started gaining popularity in the '60s, so did this once-modest, now monumental music store chain, which has grown to become the country's largest retailer of musical instruments. The store is packed with merchandise hanging overhead, crowding the aisles and monopolizing the walls. Contrary to its name, it's not just about acoustic and electric guitars; it also serves the needs of keyboardists, drummers and horn players.
Disclosure Issues
by Disgruntledcustomer at Citysearch
Guitar center does not think they should disclose to beginning gitar customers that the strings may be to high from the frets and that the customer will have to pay an addtional, expensive cost to repair the strings. SO if you think you are getting a good price for a guitar, think again, you may need additional repairs that will cost more than you think, they should disclose to beginner guitar shoppers that the neck should be comfortable and the strings should be easy to play, closer to the fret is easier than the strings being far from the frets, it puts pressure on your fingers to hold the cords you wish to play.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Not good for beginner guitar customers
Used Car salesmanship
by ladreamin at Citysearch
I know they have a great selection but there is something about htis place that I do not trust. I went in for a few nick-nacks to support my guitar habit and found myself put-off by the sales staff, and shocked at the cost of all of these little tid-bits.
- Pros: Selection, Volume
- Cons: Parking, Service Staff, Price

Feel free to plug in any of the store's guitars and take them for a test drive. Just don't play "Stairway" or you'll look like a newbie.
