In Short – The original Santa Monica location has been attracting loyal Westsiders since Day One, and its satellites--located from Pasadena to Redondo Beach--are also rousing success stories. The dining rooms are comfortable, the pace is brisk, and servers are congenial and efficient. This is a great spot for families and groups. If you're on the run, opt for takeout or delivery. Geared toward American palates, this Thai food is fresh, satisfying and not too spicy.
Just Awful Sushi

This is some of the very worst sushi in Los Angeles, rivaling even sushi from CVS pharmacy's refrigerated section.
As reference, I've eaten everywhere from Nobu and Nozawa to Midori and Ralphs.
I ordered Tuna sushi, yellowtail sushi and a spicy scallop roll. They were inedible. The sushi texture was that of fish that has been re-frozen several times. The flavor was that of old fish, not floral and sea-salt fresh. It was almost dry and mealy in texture! The spicy scallop roll had cashew-like pieces in it, which threw off the texture of this item entirely. The scallops did not taste fresh.
I paid my bill and left pleasantly as if nothing was wrong. As I pulled away in my car, one of the waiters came out, concerned, trying to flag me down because I didn't finish a single piece of fish on my plate. I just pulled away, embarrassed for them, and pretended not to notice.
I hate to write a review like this, but this food showed outright negligence. And considering LA is a sushi destination, a restaurant like this is just plain unacceptable.
- Pros: Large portions.
- Cons: Old fish; atrocious spicy scallop roll

I know this chain from the old days in Hermosa Beach (on Hermosa Ave) when it was the best Thai place in town. I have eaten at the Malibu outpost in years past, but not within that last couple of years.
OMG, the service was sooooo terrible. Surly, slow (10 minutes to get a Diet Coke in a can), and ultimately my visit was unrequited by an actual meal. After sitting for 20 minutes, my waiter came and told me that they would not be able to serve me because the cook was busy with the health inspector. He just kind of shrugged his shoulders and walked away!
I give this two stars out of my memories of meals past, discounted by the frighteningly bad service.
I usually eat at Cholada Thai at Topanga and PCH, which is hands-down one of the best restaurants in the Topanga/Malibu area.
- Pros: My memories were not shattered by bad food
- Cons: Probably the most indifferent attitude from a server, ever.
Worst Thai food in Malibu

This is definately the WORST Thai food in Malibu and perhaps ever. I have eaten at many Thau restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada. If Thai Dishes restaurant was the first Thai food I ever had I would never eat it again. The ambiance seems nice, but the food and service is HORRIBLE. I ordered Pad Thai and spring rolls to go. They came fast which was nice after surfing. But I got home there was no taste and the spring rolls were like eating a sponge, no taste. I called and indicated my dissapointment and they said it is good we always cook this way. Perhaps if they offered me something like a free dish or something to return. Well They lost my business. DO NOT risk going to Thai Dishes. I would highly recommend if you live in or near Malibu, and desire good Thau food to drive a few miles down PCH to Cholada Thai Beach Cuisine instead.
- Pros: Going to another Thai restaurant
- Cons: POOR SERVICE POOR FOOD TASTE AND QUALITY
