good thau food, worst customer service, very worst sushi, decent thai dishes, decent thai place, best restaurant, great service

Cute little Thai joint you might miss if you don't keep your eyes away from the ocean right in front of it. Pad Thai and chicken satay next to the waves? Yes please!
Thaidishes restaurant malibu.
I have been there quite a few times. What can i say, i love the food there. All the pad thai and food are great there, although its on the pricey side but i think its worth the value. Really recommend anyone who want to have a romantic dinner (at least there where i took my gf).
Been also to the other one called Cholada on Malibu. The price their is ok but not unless you want to see 10 cockroaches flyng around. I accidentally walk back their one times and YAK!!!!!!!!!!!!. I think its been shut by the FDA quite a couple of times but they keep reopening it after 2months.
Anyway, i rather pay a bit more and doesn't get extra MEAT (cockroach) on my food.
Secret delicious Thai hideaway on PCH!! Friendly.. We've been going to Thai Taste for two years. It's on PCH in center of Malibu. We love the easy vibe and friendly service, great traditional thai food, always tasty. They don't rush you out the door, they let you talk and enjoy. They have this indoor fireplace/pit . And an outdoor patio but I stay inside to be cozy. We always have a simple glass of wine and split a couple of dishes. Good prices. They also deliver for a fee...and their delivery gentleman is the most distinguished guy! Hey we love it. .
Just Awful Sushi.
This is some of the very worst sushi in Los Angeles, rivaling even sushi from CVS pharmacy's refrigerated section.
As reference, I've eaten everywhere from Nobu and Nozawa to Midori and Ralphs.
I ordered Tuna sushi, yellowtail sushi and a spicy scallop roll. They were inedible. The sushi texture was that of fish that has been re-frozen several times. The flavor was that of old fish, not floral and sea-salt fresh. It was almost dry and mealy in texture! The spicy scallop roll had cashew-like pieces in it, which threw off the texture of this item entirely. The scallops did not taste fresh.
I paid my bill and left pleasantly as if nothing was wrong. As I pulled away in my car, one of the waiters came out, concerned, trying to flag me down because I didn't finish a single piece of fish on my plate. I just pulled away, embarrassed for them, and pretended not to notice.
I hate to write a review like this, but this food showed outright negligence. And considering LA is a sushi destination, a restaurant like this is just plain unacceptable.
Okay...all the bad comments may be true....
I know this chain from the old days in Hermosa Beach (on Hermosa Ave) when it was the best Thai place in town. I have eaten at the Malibu outpost in years past, but not within that last couple of years.
OMG, the service was sooooo terrible. Surly, slow (10 minutes to get a Diet Coke in a can), and ultimately my visit was unrequited by an actual meal. After sitting for 20 minutes, my waiter came and told me that they would not be able to serve me because the cook was busy with the health inspector. He just kind of shrugged his shoulders and walked away!
I give this two stars out of my memories of meals past, discounted by the frighteningly bad service.
I usually eat at Cholada Thai at Topanga and PCH, which is hands-down one of the best restaurants in the Topanga/Malibu area.
Worst Thai food in Malibu. This is definately the WORST Thai food in Malibu and perhaps ever. I have eaten at many Thau restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada. If Thai Dishes restaurant was the first Thai food I ever had I would never eat it again. The ambiance seems nice, but the food and service is HORRIBLE. I ordered Pad Thai and spring rolls to go. They came fast which was nice after surfing. But I got home there was no taste and the spring rolls were like eating a sponge, no taste. I called and indicated my dissapointment and they said it is good we always cook this way. Perhaps if they offered me something like a free dish or something to return. Well They lost my business. DO NOT risk going to Thai Dishes. I would highly recommend if you live in or near Malibu, and desire good Thau food to drive a few miles down PCH to Cholada Thai Beach Cuisine instead.
Thai mini-chain with a consistent menu and friendly atmosphere..
In Short
The original Santa Monica location has been attracting loyal Westsiders since Day One, and its satellites--located from Pasadena to Redondo Beach--are also rousing success stories. The dining rooms are comfortable, the pace is brisk, and servers are congenial and efficient. This is a great spot for families and groups. If you're on the run, opt for takeout or delivery. Geared toward American palates, this Thai food is fresh, satisfying and not too spicy.
Thai dishes is the best. period.. Good food, saki bombs? what more could you ask for in the boring town of malibu where everything closes at 7:45? I've been to Thai Dishes more than 100 times and there is great service as well as great food.
Good basics.
The pad thai was flavorful, although the chicken was overcooked a bit. The beef with mint leaves was good enough that my friend decided to add it to her mix of regular meals at Thai restaurants.
We were there mid-afternoon on a Sunday, and maybe that made the wait staff happier to see us than other people have reported. The service was fine--not amazing, but unobjectionable--and we had no complaints.
I don't know if I'd go back, but I didn't feel ripped off (it's Malibu; I expect higher prices), and I ate food that met my needs at the time. A decent place to stop when you're mired in traffic.
Rip Off- Avoid completely unless you like paying for food you never ordered... and being yelled at!.
This was my first venture into Malibu's sad attempt at Thai food and after today's meal, I'm swearing off bland pad-thai and mediocre pineapple rice forever... seriously. Upon entering Malibu's hub of unfriendliness I was overcome by a sensation of ick and stickyness from the soy sauce humidty... Did that "A" in the window mean nothing this eatery?
The food was more alien than exotic, the atmosphere was more demoralizing than eager for business and the service was... well, they just didn't care about customer satisfaction- at all! My elbows stuck to the table more than the food to my ribs and my credit card has decided to check into rehab for bad purchases, this being the flat rice noodle that broke my mastercard's back. Not only was I charged for dishes I never ordered, but they rudely admitted to being somewhat capricious with their prices. Did I dine at a swap meet or a so-called restaurant? Oh... don't order the Sushi- trust me.
Never again...
MALIBU'S WORST. This restaurant has the absolute worst customer service I have ever had. The food is only occassionaly good, our party of five had three decent dishes and two horrible ones and the server and manager were extremely rude when we told them. The price is not cheap as the restaurant info states, it is expensive and especially so for thai food. If you are looking for thai avoid this one at all costs!
