always nice rooms, great friendly service, incredible view, very nice spa, incredible place, rude manager, helpful staff
Highly recommended.. We stayed one night in Malibu for my wife's birthday and were fortunate to get to stay at the Malibu beach inn. We had a very nice Queen room with an ocean view and small balcony. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The room is small, but plenty of room for two. Easy access to the beach for a short stroll. The patio deck overlooking the ocean made for a nice nightcap next to the firepit. Everything is clean, and upscale but still has that beach casual feeling. We fell to sleep with the door to the balcony open and the sound of the surf hitting the beach.
Unexpected bliss.
We stayed in Malibu due to a business obligation, and we had no expectations about our lodgings beyond our standard of regular luxury hotels. I live in LA and I've always subscribed to the maxim about no good hotels west of Bundy. Well I have changed my mind indeed! Malibu Beach Inn is classy without being too formal. There is a harmonic beauty with the ocean that Frank Lloyd Wright could be newly inspired by.
It's modest to be sure, but it fits the vibe of a surf town's hospitality. The rooms are small, yet well appointed. The fireplace is a nice touch to walk into. The deck is a one of a kind amenity that isn't repeatable throughout the whole west coast of America. We both felt seasick... on land!... in a good way!
From the moment we checked in, Avi, at the front desk made sure we felt at home, escorting us to our room and suggesting a great!! restaurant (Bui Sushi) to printing our boarding passes on the way out, and Loren who knowledgeably helped us figure out the internet, we felt like it was a neighborly experience unlike the rest of regularly snootibly LA. On the way to dinner we stopped in the lobby restaurant for a drink. JD the bartender, while mixing a slightly bitter margarita, made up for it in sincere conversation. Also, we learned a lot about overpriced tequila. Good to know. Thanks JD! Over all, the Malibu Inn is trying hard to be the best spot in LA and I say thanks for the effort, lovey!
Malibu Beach Inn is the kind of place I want to go to in order to really feel like I'm chillin' at the beach.
Appearances are deceiving.
I recently visited BOTH locations for Cure Spa. While the photos are beautiful and Malibu is a wonderful place, the staff and services at Cure Spa don't hit the mark by any stretch.
I had an esthetician, Jaqueline, while she was friendly, the service was definitely below par and wouldn't recommend.
Massage was average. Bottom line a complete disappointment and money not well spent. Hopefully Malibu Beach Inn will figure out that clients expect more when coming to Malibu.
Come here to watch the sunset. Breakfast on the weekends and sunsets here are heavenly!
Unbelievable Experience!.
Everything was excellent, from our room, to the staff, right down to the food at the restaurant here at the hotel. This is a boutique hotel that has the best views overlooking the ocean of any hotel in Malibu. They even give you an IPod to keep in your room so that you can order room service, your vehicle from valet, food, dry cleaning, you name it. Anything you request, the staff will provide. All amazing people, right down to the turn down service at night with chocolate on your pillow.
The comments made by the individual in reference to the staff stealing, is absolutely unfair to this establishment, as he or she admitted to sharing along with had their doors open to six other rooms.
I cannot say enough about this hotel, other than if you want it all, this is the place!
Guests only. I went to the Cure Spa for a promotion to try them out. I had a great experience. I had an out of town guest visiting 2 months later (of which I spoke about with the esthetician) and I said I wanted to bring her back. Fast forward 2 months, and I called to make an appointment, and the person on the phone was very rude and said that the spa is for hotel guests only. Nowhere on the web-site does it say that. The esthetician did not mention that either when I was talking about coming back. Just beware - to use their facilities, you must be a hotel guest.
Wonderful setting, pathetic dining experience. We had lunch yesterday at the new refurbished Malibu Beach Inn. What a wonderful setting. What a pathetic dining experience. We sat in the lounge area at a table for six and were presented a menu so lacking in imagination as to be worthy of a Howard Johnson circa 1983, apart from the prices. BLT, hamburger, calamari, penne, each dish duller than the next with condiments to match. Nothing on the menu came close to the waterfront setting; is that their shtick? Because you are sitting on the terrace with your toes almost in the water you should put up with 2nd rate food and 3rd rate service? Everything was late and twice there was a mix up with orders. Then one of our party was admonished harshly by the wait staff for referring to his coffee as an espresso with foam rather than by the Italian macchiato. Pretentious gits. I am so disappointed. We could have gone to the Beachcomber Café and eaten better for less, which I wish we had done. And now I am looking at the charges on my credit card and it looks as though an extra tip was added to my bill. Which I will contest. Go for drinks and the view but not for food. Actually, don't bother. Really truly rubbish.
Beautiful room! Excellent service. Every time I travel to the Los Angeles area, I stay at the Malibu Beach Inn, and every time, I'm just as satisfied with the service, cleanliness and professionalism of the staff. There's always someone readily available to assist any need with regards to my stay there. I love the fact that besides the restaurant, now they also have a very nice and cozy spa with massage services and facials, etc. The location is amazing, and I like the coziness of the place!
Credit Cards and Cash stolen by Staff.
Buyer beware. This was the most horrific travel experience of my life and I travel globally 9 weeks a year.
While were at the bar, a staff member broke into our room and stole all of our credit cards and cash. There was 6 of us with adjoining rooms- so 6 purses. We were on the property so we felt a false sense of security. 3k total with credit card charges. The manager was rude and careless. When I asked to see the security tapes and if they would give us a make good he said, "No! Stay somewhere else next time." We filed a police report. Stay at Shutters, Casa Del Mar. Please don't risk your leisure to crime.
Easily the best hotel in Malibu. This place is incredible. I've stayed twice and haven't been disappointed. They just finished a re-model a little less than a year ago and the whole place looks even better than it did before. The outdoor patio is a great place to get a bottle of wine, watch the waves, and sit around the outdoor fire places. The rooms are really comfortable and always nice. I only wish they would have kept the Jacuzzis that used to be on the balconies of every room. The restaurant downstairs is incredible, and offers great fine dining, although definitely at a price. There is really nothing wrong with this place. The two-star reviewer is actually talking about the Malibu Inn, which is shady and opposite of the pair, but however is completely different from the Malibu Beach Inn.
Thank you so much for your postive review. Our staff enjoys making every stay an expereince. We look forward to you returning.
