In Short
The happy-go-lucky atmosphere in this non-descript dining room is fueled by low prices and the thick garlic aroma. Waiters in guayaberas serve groups of college students, families and pre-bar hoppers. The house favorite garlic chicken in citrus marinade anchors the Cuban menu. Roast pork and salted, bay leaf-infused black beans run a close second to the famous fowl. Order everything with a side of sweet fried plantains.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoCome early if you want the paella because it's often gone by 9pm and can take up to 45 minutes to prepare.
Save TimeDon't let those long lines deter you--food is whisked out rapidly, so diners get in and out rapidly, too.

We had our first dinner in two years at Versailles a few days ago, and it was a disappointment. Although service was prompt and friendly, the food was surprisingly bland. We had one beef dish (lomo salteado) and one pork dish (lechon asado), but despite plenty of garlic and onion in the descriptions, there just wasn't much flavor. The first bite was a reminder of why we haven't been to Versailles in so long, and I doubt we'll go back.
Pros: Good service
Cons: Boring food.

Being known for finding great restaurants for their value and their taste, my friends were puzzled why I've never been to Versailles before. I've been hearing from my friends about this Cuban restaurant for years but never had a desire to go because I've heard it's very heavy and oily. I do enjoy juicy BBQs and steaks but try not to have too much grease. It seems to stay longer around my stomach than let's say...sushi. My friend and I ordered the seafood combo and the chicken and the pork combo. The rotisserie chicken was good but the pork was pretty sour for my taste. The seafoods were fresh with alot of garlic and oil. I thought fishes were swimming in the garlic oil sauce. The presentation wasn't that appealing and fish didn't have much fresh natural taste because of the overwelming garlic sauce..way too strong for my taste.
