In Short – In 1982, businessman Doug Cavanaugh opened the first Ruby's in Southern California's Newport Beach, naming it after his mother. Today, this nationwide chain--adorned with red vinyl booths, Formica tables, soda fountains and retro posters--features the same timeless food and hospitality that keep diners coming back. Favorites are the classic burgers topped with secret RubySauce, fries and sweet shakes. Other staples include pancakes, omelettes, sandwiches, chili, salads and a variety of fountain treats.

Wait staff could care less. Food awful. Had the decor but no atmosphere whatsoever and the jukeboxes at the tables don't even work. Truly poor in every respect.
- Pros: Nobody shoots you in the face
- Cons: Everything else

This is a good place to take the family. It is very family friendly. The service is fast and friendly.
The food is average but better than what you would get from a fast-food place. The milk shakes are the best. Its pricy but the ambiance makes up for it.
Not a good place for a date.. its quite noisy.
- Pros: Family friendly
- Cons: Noisy
