Redondo Charthouse was an experience!. I had planned an amazing ocean view dinner for my boyfriend's birthday, and I made reservations ahead of time so we could watch the sunset, and I also brought a birthday cake when I arrived. Since we were the first customers other than another party it was like we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. The hosts could have been a little more friendly, and aware when I handed the girl a bag and said to put it in the fridge. Our view was amazing, and our server Lisa was so friendly and sweet. We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer and it was amazing. We had vodka tonics and they were perfect! Our meals were perfect, I ordered the filet mignon and he got the mai hi mai hi. Our overall experience was very memorable, and our server Lisa even lit a candle and took a picture of us. Awesome awesome view, superior service, and very good food.

Founded in 1961 in Colorado, Chart House now has more than 25 U.S. locations. The restaurants, many of which occupy historic buildings, draw on the local region's natural features, making each one unique. Fresh fish and seafood dominate the menu with offerings like jumbo lump crab cakes, mahi mahi and Australian lobster tail. For landlubbers, there's prime rib, filet mignon and N.Y. strip steak. Sweet finishes include hot chocolate lava cake and raspberry creme brulee.
Cold food, terrible service, loud, tasteless food, server cheated us on the bill. Had reservations, still had to wait 30 mins for a window seat, even though there were quite a few empty window seats. We were seated between large noisy groups. TERRIBLE server! Our dinners were served ICE COLD! My scampi was cold and the pasta was cold and clumped together. Dessert was supposed to be free for my son for his birthday - server tried to charge us for it 3 times! Server also added in a 20% tip for himself automatically! When asked to remove it he said "Oh... how did that get on there!?" Ha ha.. how many people does he rip off that way? Had we just looked at the total, we would have added an additional amount for tip!!!! Took over ONE HOUR just to get our check straight - he brought it back 3 times incorrect! I do not recommend this location of the Chart House to anyone. Very bad experience!
Nice serving, but unfair seating..
I'm sick and tired of seating at the corner of this large restaurant.
Was it worth to have $180 dinner with seating at the asylum?
I had reservation and pre-ordered flower at this restaurant on christmas eve.
Unfortunatly they didn't prepare for my flower, but they brought it after I asked if they had it.
Besides a rude(?) receptionist send us right next to the "EXIT" sign and in between 2 large groups.
I wonder how they educate their employees about the seating policy.
Of course I'll try them again someday.
They may better ask me if I want the table before bringing me to the corner again.
Unfriendly Staff. The employees here are stuck-up and very unfriendly. We made reservations but still had to wait a while for a table once we arrived. We received horrible service and the hostesses were all very snobby. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will never go back.
Awesome View and spectacular food. I absolutely love this place. I was first introduced here by a friend and I immediately fell in love. Within one week I went 3 times. This has an awesome view. The restaurant is located right above the sand and you see all of redondo and hermosa beach. I've never had a problem with the servers and the parking is the best. No valet parking but there is a parking lot for charthouse customers and it's free and never had a problem not finding parking. You can also walk outside and walk along the beach to enjoy sunset. I love this place.
TORTURE!!!. My boyfriend and I called to make a reservation for 2 at the Charthouse thinking that we were going to have a relaxing dinner overlooking the ocean and watching the sun set. Much to my chagrin it was the exact opposite!! We arrive on time and are told that our table is being set up. Twenty minutes later they tell us that they are waiting for people to leave to give us our table. We ended up waiting as much as the people who didn't have a reservation. There were 3 young female hostesses who couldn't get their act together. How many people do you need to do an incompetent job? We didn't get table by the window that we had requested and didn't get to watch the sun set, because they had us wait for over half an hour for our table having made reservations. We get seated under a vent that is shooting out cold a/c. I tell them 3 times to please turn it down and they blew us off all 3 times (I told the hostess, the waitress and the busboy). When we asked to move to a table that didn't have vents over it, we were told that those tables were being saved for someone else. There were so many empty tables that we could've been moved to, but no one gave us the time of day (which is odd because we waited half an hour for no reason.... there were many empty tables). We realized that we were not going to spend over 100 dollars on a dinner that was going to be torturous and miserably cold. So we walked out and no one even noticed. Very,very sad.
Great view, food, salad bar and service!!. I was in town for business and went out fellow co-workers for a celebration. We were seated at a great table with a view of the ocean. Almost every table has some sort of view. We asked questions about their selections, and were impressed with the knowledge of the server. She was very pleasant and not obtrusive to our conversation. The timing of the courses was excellent. The clam chowder was good, but I've had better. However, the Dungeness Crab Legs were very big with plenty of meat. Everyone enjoyed their entree's, Seared Ahi Tuna, NY Strip and Salmon. Everything was excellent including the wine selection. Caviar at the salad bar is a new one for me, but it was excellent. I highly recommend the Chart House and for a chain it had a lot of unique features and atmosphere. The dining experience was perfect and just what we were looking for in our evening. It was lively, but quiet enough for conversation. I was very impressed and will be going back.
Management and service staff should all be fired!.
There were four hostesses all of which had plenty of attitude and not one shred of helpfulness. We didn't have a reservation, so we were willing to eat in the lounge area. We sat at a table for half an hour, and a waitress didn't even bother to come by to see if we wanted anything. While we sat there, there were four empty tables in the general seating area, so they obviously weren't that busy. The lounge area had tables with dirty plates that sat there as long as we did. We even saw people get up from their tables in the general seating area to get things themselves because of the inattentiveness of the wait staff.
We were prepared to easily spend a couple hundred dollars, but it seems they were more interested in attitude and inattentiveness than making money. Take your money elsewhere.
Better looking than it is tasting.. I went to the Chart House on Tuesday night. It was only a party of four and we had made reservations a week in advance. We checked in with the hostess 15 minutes before our reserved time of 7:45 PM but did not get seated until 8:05. 20 minute wait on what seemed like a slow Tuesday night, with reservations...not a good start. The staff was polite and attentive but the food was just okay. I had the 6oz lobster tail with an add-on of crab legs. The crab legs were pretty good but the lobster lacked any flavor...even after drowning it with butter. However, the clam chowder was very good! I would go back for the view and the clam chowder. But I would rather go to another place for seafood.
