Great desserts and drinks. This place has great desserts and pastries and there are many beverages to choose from.

I also agree with the other reviewers, it seems to be a hangout for kids so beware, it can get crowded.

The only thing I don't like is that the "comfy" 2nd hand (I think more like 4th hand) furniture is filthy. Just last Sunday I saw a girl who took her own towel to sit on. I wish they would get slipcovers because the furniture is kind of smelly and very dirty.

Underated. I hadn't been to Coffee Cartel since high school and I recently went and kept asking myself why I hadn't been back since. Perhaps I had been consumed and brainwashed with major chain coffeeshops. This place is the perfect place to study or read the paper. I think a lot events (jazz, reading, etc.) take place there as well. Very mellow, cozy and filled with random stuff that keeps your attention. Good place to make it "your spot" when you just want to hang out.

right out of "Friends". since moving out of the hood for college, i still havent found a local coffee house quite like Cartel yet. they have tons of drinks to chose from. good chai and blended coffee drinks. i always like to grab a choco scone--delicious, nice and dry. they have free wi-fi, but lighting is a little low if you want to cram a night of studying here but the atmosphere is nice. staff has always been a little odd--they are always kicking it outside and i have to ask them to get off their bums for help. i agree with the previous review--i use to be one of those high school kids. they are annoying and take the musty couches and bookcases to hide behind and make-out. some homeless and loud snoring old people too--not a great place to pick up on people. but overall, i have been going here for years and it will always have a place in my heart.

next door--the gelato place is also wonderful. so many great flavors and even the lil biscuit they top off the gelato with is yummy.

Clovamochachino!!!!. Gotta try the clovamochachino. I've never seen it anywhere else, and they rock. Great place to hang out and listen to a local artist play or poet read. Chess, checkers, backgammon. Trashed 2nd hand furniture that couldn't be more comfy. Just watch out for the High School crowds...
