Beach Bar. I used to love this bar. Once, a sense of belonging gripped you the moment you walked in. The bartenders are not as friendly now. But, current owners have made positive upgrades. The Dolphin has state of the art sound systems/videos/ lighting and fans. Inhouse security which many find invasive. The once open air patio is now covered, there is no longer the summery smell of BBQ coming from the patio, or the impromtu potluck. Many of the faces are new, a younger less outgoing or friendly crowd, has begun to replace the old guard. I miss the early daytime openings, (formerly 11am M-F, 10am Sa-Su., the maniacle laughter from the sex toy races, The 11am openings, dildo races, or the bartenders suddenly forgetting they were not in Coyote Ugly, strutting the length of the bar to the music, and miuch more. My only real issue is the price of the alcohol. I can go less than 5 blocks away and get two drinks for the price they charge here. SB Beach bar?Yes - West Hollywood South? No

Mediocre. I went to the Dolphin last night with a few of my friends (we?re all straight) because it was the only bar on Artesia Blvd. that we hadn?t been to yet and decided to check it out. We all waited at the bar to order while the bartender ignored us, and when we finally got our drinks, they were kind of expensive for the area. The people there were really nice though, and the patio is awesome. Also, it was karaoke night and the singers were actually good! The pool table was incredibly hard to see however, because of bad lighting and a crazy giant fan blowing right at it. We only stayed for one game. I have a feeling that if we were regulars and noticeably gay, the night would have been more enjoyable.

The South Bay's Only Gay Bar!. I totally disagree with that bad review! From the first time I ventured into The Dolphin, I was made to feel welcome! As a matter of fact, the few times I've been there, the bartenders have remembered not only my name, but my drink! All of the staff is friendly, though some are better behind the bar than others, they're all good! The regulars seem to invite you in to their circles quite easily, and even ask you to come on back! It's as if the regulars care as much about people having a good time there, as the employees. Some nights are more mellow than others, but I've never had a bad time. All are welcomed; gay, straight, bi, cross-gendered. The outdoor patio is a great place to sit back relax, have a drink or two, a smoke or two and talk to some fun, friendly people. Don't be afraid to start a conversation, they don't bite - unless you ask nicely! * lol *

AWESOME GAY BAR...in South Bay. The Dolphin is a great bar, I call it the Gay Cheers. Ater a few times, everyone seems to know your name. The bartenders are great, guys and girls are hot, and its close to home. I dont have to drive all the way to Long Beach or WeHo. The prices are good, servise is great and the all around feeling is friendly and everyone is ready to party. They have Pool, live DJ and Karaoke. This is an awesome bar gay or straight, mostly gay though. AND ITS THE ONLY GAY BAR IN THE SOUTH BAY!!!!! Thats not such a bad thing. Ive met so many cool people there that I hang out with on a regular basis. EVERYONE gay or straight feel welcome there. Strike up a conversation with someone and you will be talking to everyone all night. Oh and the Happy Hour bartender is hot!!! She rocks! A+ BAR

GONE DOWNHILL. Manager - "the has been Elvis" - rude to customers (yells in their faces - drunk most of the times) the club no longer gets the crowds it once used to.

Drive uptown or to Long Beach for a better time!

Poor service, not friendly. I live in the South Bay and I have been to the Dolphin on three different occasions, and wonder why I returned, the service is very bad if you are not a "regular."

I even walked out to the patio on my last visit where they were "trying" to cook hamburgers, I tried to strike-up a conversation and only recieved little more than yes and no answers, I felt that I was intuding.

If they plan on expanding, they will have to implement a new policy with there employees to welcome new customers and help them feel comfortable if they plan on increasing there customer base. three strikes and your out, I will drive north to WeHo
