Venice's best loses it glitz. This used to be my favorite spot in Venice, not just for the location, but the fantastic fresh, healthy food that was a huge change from the usual oil drenched offerings at other eateries.

Unfortunately that has all changed, along with the new management. My (now) wife and I went there to celebrate five years from the date we met (we went to the Fig Tree the next day) and were hoping to recapture the memories.

Alas the quality and presentation of the food has gone drastically downhill. The potatoes were black and looked/tasted like they'd been reheated from the previous day; the scramble looked old and discolored and the presentation was non-existent.

It's a real shame, as this really was by far the best breakfast place on the west side, but you'd be better of going to something like Jinkies now.

The new management obviously cares more about money than quality, but doesn't seem to realize that it's a short term strategy - as your regular customers won't come back.

Amazingly fresh food!. The Figtree is amazing. The food is so fresh and the best part about it is the view. They also have a great breakfast special from 8-9 i believe that no one should miss out on...give it a try!!

Yay Fig Tree!. I love the Fig Tree. The food is delish. The half price breakfast from 8 to 9 is my favorite. They make the best steaming hot latte. The shitake mushroom omlette or the chicken hash breakfast served with poached eggs are always spot on. I always get fresh organic salad greens in lieu of potatoes and they have fresh baked scones or toast on the side. The service is always great and the view is unbeatable. The figtree is one of my favorite parts of living here in Venice Beach. It is like an institution.

Great food!. I enjoy this place very much. The food is great and there are several vegetarian and vegan options on the menu for herbivores like me. I have eaten here several times and have always had good service and tasty food. It's also fun to bring out-of-town visitors, eat outside, and experience the "colorful" Venice Beach crowd. The downsides are that parking is a drag and it's cold outside in the winter. If you move indoors, it's really noisy from the kitchen. The food more than makes up for those minor annoyances, though. Last time I had the L.A. Burrito, which was delicious and plenty of food for leftovers later.

Favorite Place. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Santa Monica / Venice / MDR. The food is great, and there are always lots of veggie/vegan alternatives. Location right on the boardwalk is also fun, though can get pretty busy on the weekends. Only downside is the service, which is friendly but slow and consistently under-staffed. Just bring your patience with you, and you'll love it! The food is worth the wait.

great food... great scene.... my bf & i had a great friday morning breakfast at figtree's this morning. not only did we get served by a cute waiter w/ great service, the food was amazing delicious. on top of the yummy taste, the portion of our breakfast was huge. couldn't believe how full we were after just breakfast dishes. it was a nice sunny day to be sitting outside and having a nice view of the ocean and all the scenes happening on the ocean front walk. we would definitely go back for a nice relaxing breakfast, lunch, or dinner anytime.

Fabulous creative food. The most delcious and well-prepared food on the OceanFront Walk. I could eat here every day! And the bonus is that you can sit and watch the Boardwalk show. The cornmeal pancakes are to die for. A reasl gem on the beach!

The BEST people watching...and food!. You can't beat the location, right on the boardwalk in Venice Beach, for people watching; people of literally all shapes, sizes and walks of life saunter, Rollerblade and/or boogie by while you eat. The food is consistently and surprisingly great. The grilled ahi tuna sandwich is delicious, served on tasty focaccia bread. The Oaxacan soft tacos appetizer is unusual and very good. And go for breakfast, too, their smoked salmon plate is my favorite, but the oatmeal pancakes and omelets are great choices, too.

Figtree's Wonderful Food. Having spent the day riding up and down the coast, Venice Beach was last stop and I happened into Figtree's for one of their wonderful patty melt's and found the food to be of superior quality. My patty melt was not only super, super, fresh, it also contained healthful ingredients very tasty!!!

I definitely will be going back again. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere so "beachlike"...

AAA+ service and quality!
