CAPRI is the Italian word for AWFUL. I had dinner there last night and everything was terrible - the service, the bread, the salad, the pasta, and even the tap water! When my boyfriend and I walked in, the one and only waitperson in the place greeted us and said our table was "ready for us". When we sat down, it was the only table in the restaurant that lacked silverware, glassware, and napkins. It gets worse. After ordering we had to ask 3 times for water. When we finally got it, the water tasted funky. It was so gross that we had to order some bottled water to wash down the bitter after taste. The arugula and fig salad we ordered had no flavor to the dressing and the bread that came with the table was dry and tasteless. After waiting an hour for our simple pasta dishes, the ricotta filled ravioli was bland. I would have topped it with some fresh cracked black pepper to add some taste to it but none was offered by our waiter. Capri was the worst restaurant experience I've had in awhile, and I eat out frequently. I don't understand how and why Capri remains in business. We couldn't wait to get our bill and be done with the place.

TERRIBLE, terrible terrible service, average cuisine, uncomfortable chairs. Went to Capri for the second time this weekend- we had forgotten about how bad the service was the first time, and this was no different. Perhaps it was because we were in a group so they automatically tacked on 20% to the check, absolving them of the necessity to give us good service. When I go out to a restaurant and spend a decent amount of money AND have the 20% tip automatically added in there, I demand good service. And as an ex-waitress myself, I'm one of those really nice customers, not the kind who condescends and whines, so when someone like me is complaing, you know it's bad. When the waiter brought the wine (a $35 bottle of cheap chianti) he said "Ok if I just pop it open and just cruise?". I had to THREE times march into the kitchen to begs someone in there for some carafes of water for the table. Both times we were there, the owner of the place was wasted, so you can see where the staff get their cues from... When food was dumped on the table it was so average--my husband and I (who are no chefs believe me) cook better than this at home when we're having one of our quickie dinners because of no time between work and baby. They didnt offer pepper or shaved parmasan as is customary in the cheapest italian restaurants. 3 of us ordered the same dishes--only one of them had the sauce on it. I dont know how this place can compete in a city of excellent restaurants. The uncomfortable chair thing may seem trivial, but it does make a difference when you're stuck in one foe 2 hours!

Perhaps it was because we were in a group so they automatically tacked on 20% to the check, absolving them of the necessity to try hard, but i did notice smaller tables struggling to get noticed as the waiter and waitress flirted in the corner and the (I believe) manageress staggered around clearly having sampled the Grappa a little too much. When the waiter brought the wine (a $35 bottle of cheap chianti) he said "Ok if I just pop it open and just cruise?" -none of that time wasting ritualistic tasting nonsense. We had to beg to get water. When food was dumped on the table (I use the phrase "dumped rather than "served") it was about as good as a jar of Scarpetta and some dried pasta (ie good, but nothing I couldnt whip up in 10 minutes at home). They didnt offer pepper or shaved parmasan as is customary in the cheapest italian restaurants. 3 of us ordered the same dishes- they all looked different. I dont know how this place can compete in a city of excellent restaurants. The uncomfortable chair thing may seem trivial, but it does make a difference when you're stuck in one for 2 hours!
