$3 Charge For Delivery – I ordered the cheese and pepperoni pizza and a antipasta salad-for delivery
The pizzza was great
-the salad horrible-the dressing too salty and the price too much for what one got-
I was shocked when the driver said "what no tip !!"
What the Heck !
Doesn't the $3 dollar delivery charge that the place charges go to their drivers !
The they want a tip too-
I'm not cheap but I can get FREE delivery-
SoCal chain determined to provide a near-Big Apple pizza experience. – In Short
For those accustomed to authentic New York pizzerias, entering Johnnie's induces an excruciating sense of déjà vu: black-and-white prints, checkerboard tablecloths, raucous music and, most notably, a heady waft of garlic and Romano cheese. New Yorkers swear it's the water that gives their pizza crusts that special "something," so Johnnie's has installed an exclusive water-filtration system. Specialty pizzas like the "white pie"--topped with garlic sauce, spinach, whole-milk mozzarella and ricotta--mimic East Coast counterparts. Caesar salad makes for a simple, lighter dish.
Good pizza and salad – I like the pizza, but the reason I go is because of the veggie chopped salad which is one of my favorites. Only wish they delivered to us.
Horrendous service – Do not try to get this location to deliver you food - let alone take your order on the phone!!! 2 days in a row I was greeted by a snotty person who immediately put me on hold for more than 5 minutes at a time! When they did pick up they complained to me about how many things they were doing at once and they would get to me "when I get to you".
Never again. Any other location - go for it. Don't bother giving this location your patronage.
Angry females, bad service at Johnnie's New York Pizza, Venice, CA – Johnnie's New York Pizza USED to be a great place to call for home delivery...but about 6 months ago, some really ANGRY females started answering the phone. They're abrupt, rude, and act like they're doing you a favor! What's up with that? It makes the food taste bad by having negative service...Won't patronize this establishment anymore. Too bad...the food is really good. This is how you lose business in America.
Thumbs Up For the Pizza – I ordered a slice of pepperoni and a slice of mushroom. Both satiated my hunger.
Johnnie's Pizza has a "New York" ambience with black and white photos of the Big Apple's skyline and Coney Island.
The pizza wasn't too expensive either. My total came to $5.61.
Overpriced faux pizza – If you like pizza with more than a skiff of sauce and toppings you should avoid this place. I ordered a large pepperoni pizza, paid full price, and they served up a crusty dry frisbee.
Patience Required – Johnnie's Pizza is good, once it shows up. The delivery took at least two hours. The pizza process must have required pasteurization, because two hour delivery times are rare in Venice.
Consistently Good – The pizza and calzones never fail. Perfect if you are too lazy to pick up food. They rarely make mistakes on deliveries and the food is always good.
