like place, not more perfect location, great view, friendly staff, creative people, beautiful remodeled rooms, great restaurants
Terrible Experience! Stay Away!.
Where to start....
Our room was musty and dark...stains on the carpet and a shower head that didn't work. There is a flat screen, but it doesn't do you any good becuase there are like 3 channels. There was just a hole were the fridge was meant to be. Not what you would expect for paying $120!
We decided to take a nap and were never able to sleep because the cleaning staff was litterally YELLING for about 30 minutes in the hallway. They then proceded to slam the vacuum into the door repeatedly. When we called down and notified hotel staff they informed us that it was a silly idea to try to sleep in Venice in the middle of the day. We were also told by management, and I quote, "yeah...the cleaning staff can be pretty loud...they'll be gone in a couple hours."
Seriously?!? It's a hotel...we ought to be able to SLEEP there!
Less than an hour after we checked in we asked for a refund becuase of the shower, smelly room, and loud housekeeping. We were told there was a $60 early checkout fee.
Unbelievable!! Don't waste your money! We had stayed here before and had a bad experience, but decided to give it another chance becuase we had heard they changed management...but it was worse the second time! Jeff was the mangager we talked to and he basically just told us we were out of luck becuase they already had our money.
Wow, great Art Gallery in the lobby!.
Well, what a pleasant surprise, a little hidden gem, along the Venice Walk!
This hotel is so surprising, as you enter, you walk into this amazing Art Gallery curated by mirror-space.
The hotel and art are unique, and full of character. I loved being surrounded by this hip environment. The hotel is really well done, now with a gallery addition.
For the money, this is amazing. Just down the walk there are the BIG hotel that cost $$$$.
I love this hidden gem! Nice and clean too!
Wonder "full" of Life. I would like to start by saying that Venice is not for everybody...I have traveled there for many years and been to the Cadillac here and there thru my travels...I can say without hesitation that the completed hotel renovations are AWESOME!!! This building was in need of change and they did just that....the rooms are beautiful green and blue tones...very simple and very clean....the surroundings may appear to put you off, but that is Venice...all the reasons people visit...the street performers, artist and characters are also the people that live there...they make their living doing this...the boardwalk is full of life always...it is tough to see some reviews as The Cadillac and Venice are beautiful...those who live to love...welcome
Great Price, Great Location!.
My friend and I stayed at the Cadillac on Memorial Day weekend as a girl?s getaway.
Booking was quick and easy. Tip: While renovations are taking place (rooms are done, lobby is next) the hotel is offering considerable discounts when booking. I attempted to book over an online travel site and found that the hotel was 20% less when I called the hotel directly to book.
We arrived before check in (noon) and were very happy about the location and all the nearby attractions. Unfortunately we were disappointed to see that all of the hotel parking was taken - instead we parked in front of the hotel to check in briefly and get information about parking. The gentlemen at the front desk checked us in and told us that parking was limited (to say the least - they have 6 spots) and that I would have to pay a nearby parking lot ($20 - daytime parking only) or find a spot on a nearby residential street (almost impossible). We were in for a parking search!
We got a room on the 3rd floor facing south and we had a great view of the ocean. The rooms were nicely decorated with bold colors and clean lines, new bathrooms with nice glass tile, Crabtree & Evelyn shower products, an iHome and a mini fridge. For the price and the location we couldn't have made a better choice. After unloading we drove down to Rose St. and luckily fond a tiny (but free) parking spot.
The location is really amazing. We were able to walk to Main Street and enjoy the bars and restaurants (3 blocks away) and were a very short drive (3 minute) drive to Abbott Kinney. We could not have found a better location for the price.
Extended our stay 3 times!. My wife and I stayed here last month and changed our check out date three times. We were supposed to go on to San Diego and than Vegas but every time we were due to check out, we couldn't bring ourselves to do it. I have read some other reviews, and don't know how the place was before the rennovation but we couldn't have imagined a nicer place. The lobby still needs some work, but the rooms were beautiful. We did not have an ocean view, but could see the Pacific from our room none the less. Great atmoshphere and very clean. I can't think of any other place this nice sitting on the beach for the same price. We will be back again and again.
Unbelievable. I have been traveling to Venice for over 20 years and this is the first place I have found real comfort and class in the area. As much as I dig the Venice "vibe" I like to leave it behind at the end of the day. The remodel has truly turned this place into a hot joint. Flat screen t.v.s, beautiful colors, new beds, amazing! If you enjoy the art and freedom vibe of Venice and like to be ON THE BEACH, this is the place for you! Highly reccomended! As far as the staff, they are as pleasent, helpful and kicked back as they have always been.
You got to try it. I have been to Venice Beach many time but never stayed in the area until about 3 weeks ago when we had to do work on our house, my husband insisted that we stayed near the beach so we picked The Cadillac because their rate for 3 days was around $110.00 per day and in Santa Monica we were not able to find anything below the $250.00. The minute we walked into the room I told my husband that we got a great deal for this room because everything was brand new, my children loved using the iHome and watching tv on the plasma tv. The staff was friendly specially the girl that works at the front desk.
Great Remodel. Perfect Location. This couldn't be a more perfect location, it's literally in the heart of Venice, on the beach and next to tons of great shops and restaurants. The remodeled rooms are great and the view is awesome. I suggested my visiting friends stay here and glad I did--close enough to take them to and from LAX and had available parking for guests. We enjoyed the beach and the venice/santa monica nightlife all weekend! It was a quick and cheap cab ride up to santa monica too so they got to see more of the beach cities. They are still remodeling so I would check on their progress before booking depending on your occasion.
USED TO BE.... This hotel was a decent place to stay when the rate was low, around $80.00. The staff were friendly people which helped make your stay pleasant. A low rate can make a simple semi maintained room on the beach an acceptable place to stay. But now the rates have jumped to 115.00 for a basic room. But nothing has changed, The renovation of the fourth floor has been going on for five months with little progress. The new staff is rude, especially this Asian gentleman who seemed to belive that his ego and self absorbed attitude came before customer service. Bring back the friendly staff, bring down the rates, and this can be a nice place to stay.
The hotel is currently finishing the renovations in which the dated rooms this guests refers to are non-existent. EVERYTHING has been changed and evertything is brand new. From the plumbing to the furniture...everything is different. The updated picture offers a sample. The rooms feature aquatic colors blended in accent walls and glass tiling in the bathrooms...they have flat screens televisions, Ihomes, and all new bedding. Any posting prior just does not represent the current state of the hotel.
Perfect for cash-challenged scenesters who want to be in the thick of things..
With a prime location near hip shopping and eating districts like Abbot Kinney Boulevard, the Cadillac is a real steal. This art-deco showpiece on the world-famous Venice Beach boardwalk (aka Ocean Front Walk) was refurbished a decade ago to be unabashedly noticed--it has a pink-and-turquoise facade and a gondola in the lobby. Once the summer home of silent-film legend Charlie Chaplin, this beachfront property is still occasionally haunted by a celeb or two (if you believe staffers).
