BEST TAX PREP SERVICES. I have been using SARLO tax services for years and have NEVER EVER had any problems or complaints about them. In fact I am very much grateful for all of this office's hard work they have done. I have gone through a lot over the years with jobs and the rental property. I have always felt and been shown that Mike Sarlo is on the level and will always be truthful and work with my best interests at heart. My family has been using SARLO for our taxes and I will keep recommending him and his team. I love that they are all very nice and approachable, its NOT a stuffy business atmosphere, but they certainly do take care of their business. I am not rich, I do not own companies nor do I have any investments, I am just an average citizen. But SARLO treats my family and me like we are just as important as any large money clients. We get fantastic service and I will continue to use his services.

Sarlo Tax has been providing exceptional service to their clients for years. I should know, I'm one of them. Yes, I tried other services here-and-there, but without question, Sarlo proved to be the best.
Locally-owned (not part of a huge national chain), the Sarlo family has taken great care to make sure that their reputation was taken care of...by doing great work for their clients!
For great advice and service regarding your taxes-see Sarlo. In my opinion, anythings else is a waste of time.
Trying their best. It's surprising to hear all the negative comments. It makes sense because not many happy tenants would take the time to post something positive. I think the management company heard all the complaints and are now trying their best to fix this. I have only received exceptional service from them thus far. They are nice, courteous, and extremely helpful. I look forward to a long strong relationship with them.

We have recommended Lory Sarlo to several (like 6 or 7) friends and they are all equally as pleased...every year!
We've had tax consultations for rather unusual circumstances and situations and received outstanding and sound advice. They are super knowledgeable and if they don't know...they'll look it up and get back to you.
Last year Lory even did our taxes via email as we were out of the country.
When buying a property we sought out Bill's help with the mortgage and he was able to give us an unbelievably low rate and b/c he is also the underwriter he can be more flexible than some of the larger banks that make buying a property a HUGE headache. (I will say he wasn't always that great about returning calls and emails) but I still recommend their mortgage services.
A friend of mine is living in one of the Sarlo property's and has had NO issues with them as the property managers. I suspect the earlier review was an isolated incident?

I used Sarlo for a mortgage and he predicted a good rate. When my real estate agent wanted us to use someone else - Caldwell Banker guy - he scoffed at the rate Sarlo promised and said it was impossible. I started to think I was making a mistake by going with Sarlo (the office was a bit unkept and it seemed shady at first. THEN -
Bam, locked a better rate than promised. Beyond that he made some promises about other things and he kept each and every one of them - even when it was against his interest. I was surprised and impressed - in business most people drop you when you're not an asset to them.
Upon returning tot he office a couple years later I realized it wasn't shady at all, it was VENICE! It fit right in. I also saw how the staff treated his very young toddler and there was genuine affection for the little girl from the staff. I can tell when workers are trying to please the boss, but this was unquestionably genuine. I have a young toddler too and this was a nice thing to see. They seemed less like an corporate office and more like a family restraint. My prejudging was wrong. Doing business with them was good a good experience.
I reserved one star because After dealing with him, we were mostly dealing with his staff - maybe that's they way it goes in all these businesses. I like hsi staff fine, but it's better to deal with the guy I shake hands with.
They obviously stood the test of time.
Mike Sarlo & Sarlo income tax. The Sarlo family has been doing our families taxes for the past 30 years. Speaking from my experience with them, I can say that they do in fact make you feel like you are part of the family. They are honest and efficient and that is why we travel from San Diego to Los Angeles every year with the family to do business with Sarlo and company. Thanks to Mike and company you are definitley who I would recommend.

It is funny, reading these reviews. I am an actual tenant. Not a client, employee, or friend. I pay their wages, mortgages, and car payments. I was guaranteed, verbally, because a tenant can never get anything in writing, one of their fabulous remodelled aparments in Mar Vista. Well, Let me tell you something...
Sarlo has no integrity or honest bone with regard to business. The market is sinking and they want $300-$400 more than the market allows. They would rather force out good tenants than be reasonable. They can not even keep managers. 7 approximately in 4 years here at my apartment. 3 new property managers each with no skills to relate to "human beings".
So we are moving. Saving $1000.00 on our deposit and over $300.00 on rent, because owners in Culver City and Beverly Hills realize the economic situation. These Jokers are Oblivious...Greedy...and Insane to think they are going to rent 2 bed 1 bath apts for $1850 to $1900...
I had a signed lease with Sarlo and a verbal agreement to move in early and they renigged on everything. Hid behind the lease and then sent a manager to my apartment and shoved a 30-day Tenant Vacancy Notice in my face. This guy was shaking and his lips were quivering. He could not swallow his pride and accept that he was manipulating and changing the terms of our agreement.
Well Sarlo, we except your demand. And Thanks!, because we just saved an initial 1300.00 plus 300.00 a month for a nicer apartment. Hope screwing your tenants is worth it because you are about to lose more...

Considering all this, why would you want them to do your taxes. If they are cutting corners and doing bad business with their "Money Maker" just think what corners and shady dealings that they are involved with in their Tax business!

Sarlo is Slum Lord Darth Vader. I tried to give them ZERO stars, but was unable. Besides, they TRULY deserve NEGATIVE stars! A friend of mine recommended their tax consultation when he had just barely begun a relationship with these jackals. I needed mine done too, but I already had a long time family accountant. However, I was also desperately in need of a new apartment, and when he mentioned they had many properties near the Venice Beach area, I plunged in. WHAT A MISTAKE! These people have no shame & do not respond to repair requests! Further, they allow illegal amounts of occupants to live under one roof, and use despicable and dishonest ruses to evict their tenants. What's more, both my male friends building (he wound up renting as well, and lived to regret it too!) AND the one I rented with a girlfriend of mine were plagued with rodents AND insects!!! Stay away from these people and their properties if you want to be happy where you live and treated with respect by whomever you rent from! They are rude and dishonest!
Unhelpful, lackadaisical, and very poor service.
I don't know about taxes, but beware if you are interested in leasing at one of their properties. We have had constant issues with repairs, they generally don't care, and are more concerned with remodeling the empty apartments to attract renters. Rather than fix the problems, they make half efforts to seem like they are fixing the problem(s). That way, if something is taken to court, they can say that they "attempted" to eradicate the problem/issue.
Most of the time when phone messages were left, the receptionist was rude, and everyone was conveniently "not available." Very poorly run company, they do not communicate well with tenants. I would urge and advise you to tread with caution, unless you like bad property management and are prepared to wait weeks on end for repairs. Even a one star rating is too much, they are just a notch above slumlords.
