Editorial Review for San Antonio Winery – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
A hundred years ago, the L.A. River was lined with wineries--only one remains today. A vaulted hall, stacked with wine barrels, is filled with downtown businessfolk and loft-dwelling artists eating cafeteria-style lunches. California-inspired dishes are tasty and pair with the house wines, available by the bottle or the glass. Penne pasta with salmon is paired with vodka sauce, while spinach-ricotta ravioli is flavored with a medley of herbs.

the food is good, atmosphere cozy, good service depends on days, ask for receipt, I ate there often and always thought the bill was high, last I asked for a reciept and they do overcharge- watch out!

We recently gathered here for a family event. It wasn't a specially organized event or anything...just us getting together for brunch on the weekend. I have to say I was sorely disappointed and left our meal a little confused. The quality of food was generally average. The service was slow and confused me. Is this a restaurant or a cafeteria? It reminded me of a terrible version of Las Vegas buffets. You pay...get your food...and slide your tray down the line. Servers behind the line give you what you order...except for the entree which is delivered to your table. Just a weird experience all around. I don't think we'll be visiting this place again. However, I can see how it would be a great place for lunch if you worked downtown.
