view & uploadmuch fun place, huge crowd, really terrible bar service, great atmosphere, great band, disgusting thursdays, enjoy drink
This Marina Del Rey pub is perfect for a fun evening drinking. Good prices and a large selection. For your St. Paddy's day celebration they have plenty of guiness and Irish coffee and if you come at the right time you may even catch some live bagpipe action.
go broncos!!!! go irish!!!!. fun place and it is a broncos bar. thursdays are great but get there early. and you will get drink deals if you are a denver fan, now thats my type of place.
What a Great Bar. I always have a great time, and never wait for a drink. I go there with sport team on Monday nights and have a blast!!!!!
Bartenders who suffer from mental illness. THis bar could be so much better, its understaffed by local idiots, one blonde/ brunette girl is mentally ill, you can see it in her face, the other two guys are flippin morons, and self involved; You never get a drink timely, the patrons are the only cool people. The bartenders also EXPECT a Top Dollar tip or they wont serve you, The owner is an OLD man who has NO clue how to run a descent bar. AVOID this place, and spend your hard earned money else where.
alcohol, music, entertainment, turtles, crowd, reasonably priced=Brenn's. This place is amazing, it is a good place to go right after work or just to hang out. They race turtles in the back patio for a couple of hours and they have a huge crowd! They have bleachers and provide a few chairs, but it attracts a huge crowd, about a hundred this past Thursday. If you point at any turtle, you get a ten dollar fee, I think that is ridiculous but hey, they make money off it, and they throw a handkerchief to you and comeover with a bucket. It attracted a lot of guys and yes, women go up to the middle of the race track for turtles and yes, they bend over and to many guys it is entertaining. There are plenty that volunteered, there was even a couple of milfs too.
Awesome. great hole in the wall bar on the westside. Its a great atmosphere to get trashed cause everyone gets trashed here
BAD BAR. Really cruel way to treat turtles, BAN THIS BAR>>>> It was over crowded, sexist and inhumain to the turtles. They were left in a circle to race of in any direction only to be harshly grab and thrown back in the centre and this was repeated without any breaks of water for the turtles. The food was rubbish and bar service was slow.
Friday night was a dud with a boring Black Sabbath tribute band "Mistress's of Reality"...yech..
Stopped in to have a few beers on a Friday night. A rather "ragged" crowd of "would-be" rockers and retail business types sat around in scattered fashion. Not an impressive crowd in anyway, including numbers.
When the band finally took the stage for their next set, they took 20 minutes just to get started.
A scarecrow of a singer (who's main talent was how many times she could utter the "F" word for any reason) tried to act like she had the crowd in her hand. She was "obviously" elementary in her approach of stage presence, not to mention her apparent belching which was supposed to be singing.
I've seen better bands at this place in my occasional visits, but this one stunk.
In fact, I've seen mgmt. "turn down" better bands here.
But tonight, I guess the owner let these gals have their way up there.
They flat out stunk from minute one.
The choice of beer is fine here, and there is no cover. Parking is usually easy.
SOMETIMES not a bad place to stop....but not tonight.
CREEPY thursdays.
let's put it this way, they will let ANYONE into Brennans. Sometimes that's a good thing, but in this case it's absolutely not. Sure, they pride themselves on turtle racing. I've seen it once. You can't MOVE it's so crowded there, full of shlubby people who actually like to watch turtles "race". You'll find it's DISGUSTING older gentleman who talks to females in a rude manner and has them race the turtles while he heckles. It's pretty appalling. First because it seems cruel to leave even the smallest of animal with this man. Second, because it's harassment times fifty. No ones seems to care however, because the crowd is made of people who are so wasted they find turtle racing hysterical.
When it's not thursday, the bar is somewhat empty. The only plus is the music, sometimes they get really cool live bands to play. But it still doesn't make up for the disgusting thursdays.
No longer a cool place to hang out.
Boy has this place gone down hill. Hadn't been to Brennan's in a while, so I went. On a friends reccommendation, I went to see a band play. Great band. Terrible service. I mean, really terrible service. A few of the employees have a nasty attitude. Used to be a really fun, local neighborhood place to grab a beer. Now it's all negative vibes. Kind of sad really.
Oh well, great thing about LA is that when one place goes tits-up, like Brennans', there are many others to take its place.
Word to the wise. You'd enjoy your drink or two much more at another establisment.
Cheers!
TVs, taps and turtles enliven a high-spirited Irish pub..
In Short
Patrons can get their daily dose of sporting match-ups on one of the many TV monitors. Pool tables, dartboards and pinball machines are available for those who feel like playing a game of their own. A tiny stage and a sliver of a dance floor occupy one corner where local bands perform everything from '80s covers to Irish folk songs. But the real draw is the long-standing Thursday night tradition: turtle racing.
