A nationally recognized recreation and athletic center geared toward community improvement..
In Short
The first U.S. branch of the YMCA started in Boston in 1851; there are now more than 2,500 locations nationwide, making it the country's largest nonprofit community service program. Each YMCA reflects the community it's in, offering differing services based on the area. Most include fitness areas with aerobic equipment, classes and racquetball and tennis courts. Many also have day care and after-school programs, as well as summer day camps.

Confusing..
I grew up going to the Torrance newly-renovated YMCA and after visiting the new San Mo library across the street, I had high hopes for this Y. I was a little disappointed--the place is a labyrinth, making it hard to find equipment. Plus, I never saw any staff walking around so I couldn't ask for assistance on any of the machines. Some of the machines are a little old.
I've yet to try a class, but I might just opt to go to a different gym.
