Elias and Jack are great to work with. My wife and I have been going to Elias and Jack for about five years now. They have always done a good job for us and quickly. They are not the least expensive, and maybe not the absolute best tailors in Los Angeles-- but they are very good. They have never been rude or unfair. We have had to take back some pants which were shortened too much one time and they fixed them no charge and no attitude. Not bad when you consider they have done about 20 pairs for us. No person or business is perfect. People in Los Angeles can be very rude to people they see as below them. It is a vulgarity peculiar to this region of the country. I suspect that people who have had bad experiences with these guys probably mismanaged their approach. People who expect perfection will always be dissapointed and at times, in my opinion, unnecessarily mean spirited.

Terrible job. I've been to Elias a few times and have had from okay to terrible results. The first time I had a pair of jeans hemmed and they turned out fine. The second time I had a dress taken in along the seams and the dress came out a little snugger than when it was pinned but it was still wearable. Feeling somewhat satisfied, I took a silk top that needed many alterations including taking in the shoulders and changing the placement of seams and they did a terrible job. The stitches they placed in the delicate material to make princess seams were very large and obvious and made the shirt look cheap. The shoulders were taken in unevenly and looked awful as well. I didn't try to have them correct it as I had no faith in their abilities at this point. I took it to another tailor out of town who performed miracles and saved my blouse. Elias seems more like a factory where they put in the minimal effort possible and charge way too much. I don't recommend.

Save your clothes: there are better and more affordable tailors out there.. I'm in the fashion biz so I should have known better... headshots of celebs on the walls should have been be the first warning sign. I had jeans and skirts tailored but they were sub par, and the skirt was ruined - worse than a job I could've had done at the local drycleaner, and it's DOUBLE the price! Elias doesn't do the tailoring anyway, he has a line of employees in the back doing the sewing, and they don't exactly instill confidence. One of my skirts had to be re-tailored -- what a pain esp bc I wanted to wear it that weekend. While I was there, a customer's tshirt hem was cut too short, and he got into a fight with a woman who wanted her hem re-done. Weird. People like him but I think they are the older shoulder-pad wearing crowd. Service is terrible. Save your clothes, go elsewhere.

Best Tailoring Experience on the Westside!. I have used Elias Tailoring for more than a decade. Their work was always a cut above! Unfortunately, I was treated just as badly as the other reviewers.

Beyond TERRIBLE!!!!. Elias is the worst place you could possibly go. I took in several suits to be tailored. Elias did not price each item separately, nor even list each item that was to be altered. He just listed a total price of over $200. After I paid and picked up the suits, I realized that one of pants had not been altered at all. I took it back and he told me I didn't pay to have it altered. How would he know? The receipt didn't reflect how many items I had taken in. All I know is I took in these pieces to be altered, he measured, and he gave me a total price. Now, after one of the pants wasn't altered, he tells me I never paid for it? We proceeded to get into an argument over it where I pointed out that I brought in the piece with the others, paid a (very high) total which he stated, and then he didn't do the work. He proceeded to say he wasn't going to alter the pants for free and if I wanted them altered, I needed to pay extra!!!! Needless to say, I didn't pay extra and I'm never going back. The guy is a real ***hole!

DON'T GO HERE.. I ignored the other reviews on this site and went to Elias Tailoring to have a leather jacket altered. I told him what I wanted. He marked it. When I picked it up it was wrong. He refused to fix it correctly without charging me again. The first charge was $100. A lot. The receipt claims he will fix anything within 7 days of the work being done. He just refused. And was very rude.

The other reviews about this guy are absolutely right. DON'T GO. I learned the hard way. How citysearch rates this place highly I'll never understand as most of the reviews of Elias are NEGATIVE.

I'm actually looking into taking him to small claims court over this because this was such an awful experience.

Thanks for looking! Please learn from my mistake.

rude service. I went to this shop for many years because although slow and sometimes a little off, I found that they were better than many in town. However, the customer services has gone severely downhill. After being a faithful customer (one who even returned hangers!) on a monthly basis for a long time, even I started experiencing being yelled at and brushed off if I complained about uneven or sloppy work. Once I was even shooed away and berated in front of others when I came to pick up my clothes on the promised date and found them not ready. And when I told them I wanted an explanation as to why I was being treated this way although I had been a long time and loyal customer, the yelling got louder and I was told they did not need my business. So they don't have it anymore. Try Lizon or First Class.

disappointing!. I've been using Elias for about 2 years. . . It is convenient to where I live, so I just kept going. However, I've started to notice a pattern. . . my pants are ALWAYS just a little bit too long when I get them back. They look great when pinned, but then, after the work is done, they are off. I've also gotten sleeves back that were different lengths. Unfortunately, they only guarantee their work for 7 days - so if you want the protection of that gaurantee, you better wear the stuff soon after you get it back. Overall, I am just disappointed. . . thought I'd found a great tailor, but over time, have found that their work is pretty sloppy.

The customer is always wrong here..... The two times I've taken things there the work has been satisfactory. However, both times other people in the store were complaining about problems with the work, and were shrugged off by the staff. They are completely uninterested in customer service, kinda like the Soup Na zi in Seinfeld, but without the humor. Overt rudeness is their normal disposition.

Also, they do NOT take credit cards at all. Cash ONLY. So if you have a big order, bring lots of cash. After waiting in a long, disorganized line I realized this and told him I didn't have any cash. He angrily ripped the tag from the hanger and said "Get out of my store and come back when you have cash. NEXT!"

If you enjoy being talked down to by arrogant, unhappy people, perhaps you will do okay here. Otherwise, I would recommend taking your business elsewhere.
