incredible food, very bad service, pretty nice place, worst experience, rude wait staff, enjoyed fried calamari appetizer, nice christmas eve meal
Fun Place to People Watch. Had lunch here on Memorial Weekend. My stripped bass was pretty good. My husband thought his butternut squash tortellini didn't have that much flavor. The prices are high. My fish was $28. That's more a dinner price than a lunch price. You can sit and watch people walk by and listen to the street musicians.
Promenade trattoria for people-watching & Italian classics.. Located on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Third Street, this spacious eatery brims with outdoor tables that look out onto all the action, allowing for an unobstructed view of the constant flow of shoppers, beachcombers and street performers. Although it's no four-star dining destination, its location and large selection of soups, salads, pastas, pizzas and Italian classics make it a popular spot to grab a bite before watching a movie or after a long day of shopping.
Terrible!!. I'm not sure you could even use the calamari as bait it was so bad. Took one bite and couldn't eat any more. Then the entrees came and it went from bad to worse. My wife and I each took one bite and we sent all of the food back and promptly paid for the wine and left. Words cannot express how bad the food is at this restaurant. Avoid at all cost!!!!
My advice: skip it.. I've never before written a review for a restaurant, and probably should have for many of the great places I've been (I'll have to play a good deal of catch-up!). Though that past good service did not prompt me to comment, the poor experience afforded by Trastevere does now. The food was blah, no better than your local Olive Garden. The service was so-so, but not exceptional. The real kicker is that they double-double charged my card (correct amount once the night of dining, then twice the correct amount 3 days later). I don't want to pay their normal rate for what they dish up, let alone three times that! Save yourself the hassle- hang out on the Promenade (love it), but go to Cafe Crepe and skip the more expensive joints that sell location, but don't manage to sell a quality dining experience.
very bad service. The food might live up to the price and the location. But the service was really terrible and for that, I am sure that I won't go back there. On a sunny Sunday, I went to the restanrant with my friends for luch and after finishing eating all the food we had ordered, I asked for the check. At that time, we were in a hurry because we had a plan to do. So I asked our waitress to hurry a little bit in a polite manner. But to my surprise, she got angry at me and began to blame me for what I had said. I did not understand why she did it to her custmer. It was the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant.
Bad customer service.
My family and I went to this restaurant thinking we could have a nice Christmas Eve meal. Boy were we wrong! First of all, there was no record of the reservation we had made. After placing our orders, we enjoyed a fried calamari appetizer (decent but not the best I have had), and waited for our main courses. After about 20 minutes of waiting, imagine our surprise when our plates were cleared and silverware taken away. We were all thinking this was a pretty nice place to be giving us completely new place settings. But instead, the server came by asking if we wanted dessert! Hello?! We didn't even receive our main dishes yet! What kind of waiter doesn't even remember if his guests' meals have not arrived yet?
It turned out that "the kitchen had not received the order," whatever that means. After we finally received our meals, we still had no utensils. When they came, they were sloppily placed on the table. The food was great - too bad we had such a bad taste in our mouth already from the service. We asked for some compensation for the terrible service, such as a free dessert, and the server was unwilling, saying it wasn't his fault. When we asked to speak to the manager he suddenly wanted to give us free dessert. And he didn't even bring over the manager! Even at a cheap place like Olive Garden, they bring the manager over who then makes everything better. Not to mention that you get asked if you want a drink refill (we didn't).
We couldn't wait to get out of the place, but when we asked the hostess to take our bill, she kept talking to the table she had been talking to all night and waved us away, saying "your server will take care of the bill." The worst part of the experience was every interaction we had with the staff. This place obviously does not pride itself in customer service and gets business only because of its prime location. Don't go there unless you want to get treated badly while trying to have a nice dinner!
AWFUL!. If you're expecting the same quality of food or the same service as the Hollywood Blvd. location, you can forget it. The wait was ridiculously long. Then you finally get in and the wait staff was rude and hard to get a hold of for drinks or ever just to take an order. Then there was the food. It was AWFUL! I expected the food to be somewhat like the other locations but it was not. The food was cold, tasted terrible and when I asked why they told us that we didn't have to come back. They further explained that they were NOT owned by the same people who owned the Hollywood Blvd. location. Trust me and stay away from this place. I've never even bothered to write a review of a restaurant before but I just had to try to steer people away from horrible place.
Really below average. I would be kindda OK with bad food, but they overcharged my card, probably adding tips to themselves, I had to call my credit card company to sort it out, thank God I did not throw away my signed receipt!!! never again, cheating on customers is always unacceptable, avoid.
Pretty decent. I've been here a couple of times. It's great because it's not too fancy and not entirely casual. The service sometimes leaves something to be desired but every time we've ordered food, we get it much faster than we'd expect. Sometimes the penne is a bit undercooked. We were shocked to have our party of 3 seated immediately at 8pm last night (Saturday).
Best Place to Eat on the Promenade. We've gone here several times when shopping at the Promenade. The food is good--I've had their fish, pastas and pizzas before and wouldn't complain about anything I've had. The service is always prompt. Weather permitting it is the best patio spot to eat at when you are in the area.
