dry food, huge craving, nice meal, not good places, terrible experience
I love Thai food! Having eaten this
cuisine in quite a few locations worldwide, i consider myself well known with this kitchen. The food that you get at this restaurant is certainly not the best that i have eaten, but it is quite good. The service is not that good, they tend to get confused when it gets busy.
Although far from Santa Monica, my recommendations for Thai food are located in Amsterdam: restaurant Bangkok and restaurant Dynasty!
Book your dish with rice, brown rice because we wanted we had to add another $ 0.25 account it made me mad
Terrible experience. We wanted some Thai food, and Siam Chan (our favorite) was closed. We decided on Thai Dishes 90401. We had a coupon for Thai iced teas with a $20 purchase, and the woman taking our order made some noise but accepted our coupon. Or so we thought...the driver shows up without the drinks and no explanation. We call the restaurant, and they argue with us. We made it clear that we only ordered so much food for the coupon, and they finally give in to our demands. The driver returns to chastise us for using an old coupon, which had no expiration date or "limited time" disclaimer for a hint. The food was dry and burned in places: not good. It was not worth the money or effort by any stretch.
Thai mini-chain with a consistent menu and friendly atmosphere..
In Short
The original Santa Monica location has been attracting loyal Westsiders since Day One, and its satellites--located from Pasadena to Redondo Beach--are also rousing success stories. The dining rooms are comfortable, the pace is brisk, and servers are congenial and efficient. This is a great spot for families and groups. If you're on the run, opt for takeout or delivery. Geared toward American palates, this Thai food is fresh, satisfying and not too spicy.
Good curry for lunch. I went for a business lunch. The menu was solid, and I was tempted by several items. I settled on a yellow veggie curry, and was quite satisfied with my meal. It wasn't life-altering Thai, but it was a nice meal and in the future, if I find myself with a group who suggest it after a day of shopping the Promenade, I'd certainly agree to dine there again.
