AVOID THIS RESTAURANT!

OMG! It’s hard to screw up BBQ Chicken. But Rusty’s wins the prize for the worst BBQ Chicken I’ve ever had.

For our first visit to Rusty’s, my wife ordered the BBQ Chicken with a salad. A safe, simple order, right?

What Rusty’s calls BBQ Chicken is one chicken breast, sliced in half (to make it thin and quick to reheat), boiled in unsalted water (to remove all the flavor), refrigerated, then placed on the grill long enough to give it grill marks (but not long enough to heat it inside), and then slap a little cheap BBQ sauce on top before it is served.

After suffering through as much of this lukewarm, flavorless chicken as she could manage, she decided to eat the mixed greens salad.

If you’ve ever left lettuce in a plastic bag for a couple weeks and seen the slimy part that sticks to the inside of the bag, you know why her salad tasted awful. About 20% of the lettuce in her salad was like this, and, of course, stuck to the lettuce that had not yet spoiled. It was disgusting.

We brought these things to the attention of the manager. His response was to shrug his shoulders and say “Sorry”.

We visited Rusty’s in the middle of a Monday afternoon, so there were very few customers in the place. Yet, for some reason, it took 20 minutes for them to prepare our food.

So, for $15 at Rusty’s you get lousy food, slow service, and management that doesn’t give a damn.

If it wasn’t for the steady traffic of unsuspecting tourists, this place would have gone under years ago.

Great Fun and Food

We went to Rusty's as a group and had a blast. The food was excellent, the band was teriffic, and we had a great time. I can't wait to go back again as the drinks were reasonably priced. A nice time was had by all.

Rusty's Surf Ranch On The Santa Monica Pier

I've been going to Rustys for several years and the food is as good as you can get in Santa Monica or on the entire westside of L.A. for a moderately priced restaurant. It is on the Santa Monica pier and is a fun place to hangout, day or night, all year round. I have spent hours there involved in their special acitvities, eating and drinking (my favorite activities), or playing games (pool is my game) that they have. It is a great place to meet friends and socialize.

A wonderful experience every time that I am there.

Exciting, Fun, Great Dining and Super Hangout!

Have to say I haven't found much better food and especially combinations of foods and drinks to satisfy every appetite from young to old. Love the cuisine and the atmosphere. A delightful and satisfying experience.

People watching/Great Food?Good Music

This is one of Santa Monicas best places to spend time. The menu has something for just about anyone. I enjoyed the crab cakes, clam chowder and a great burger.

If you want to just sit back and enjoy some time with friends, in a come as you are atmosphere, this is one of the best places anywhere.
