Great selection. Solid staff.

Looked very high end from exterior but my roomie & I checked it out anyway. Bikes were clearly organized into 4 sections -- road, off-road, hybrid, and cruisers. Clearly marked price tags showed prices from $300 - $6,000 bikes.
I was just window shopping so it was nice to not feel pressured. I went in on a Saturday. It was busy but not a zoo. Despite that, staff was very helpful about types of bikes and where to eat some lunch nearby.
I checked out 5 bike shops in the last 2 days and had the best experiences at Helen's Cycle (on a slow Friday AM) and Performance Bike (busy Saturday afternoon).
Dave- Uninformed of local bike rts or just condescending??

I am planning a trip to Santa Monica and was doing some research on the local bike paths. Who better to contact than a local bike shop, NOT!!! When calling this bike shop I talked with Dave, who answered the phone, and had no knowledge of the 22 mile bike path that runs north and south up and down the coast? My question was simple. Is it a designated bike only path? Or does it have vehicle traffic? He was rude and said he did not know of the bike path I was asking of. He was very short, and sounded annoyed by my question.
I called REI up the street from them. They were very helpful and I will be shopping there for my biking accessories not at Performance Bicycle.
POOR Performance is more like it

I called the store and was told that they had the part I was looking for and its price. However, when I went into the store I found that I had been given the lowest price of similar parts but NOT the part that would fit my bike (despite having clearly explained what I needed when I called). The price was 81% HIGHER than what I was quoted on the phone! Classic bait and switch. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY AND ITS DECEITFUL SELLING TACTICS.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Used deceitful Bait and Switch selling tactic
Prepare to be ignored.

I read all the other negative reviews, but still decided to give it a try to see for myself because the selection looked too awesome online to pass up. The service here is terrible. I walked in on a slow Thursday afternoon, nobody greeted me (though there was a guy sitting around, flipping through a catalogue behind the front counter), and I spent a good 20-30 minutes looking around at bikes and wandering throughout the store, waiting for someone to help me. Nobody ever came. Most of the sales staff were busy talking to each other, or wandering about aimlessly.
The entire staff needs to be trained in customer service (I would say retrained, but that would imply a modicum of training to begin with). I was ready to spend $1200+ for a new bike, but they lost my sale. Go somewhere else. The online site has terrible reviews as well, this is just a bad company. Don't let the prices fool you, you get what you pay for.
- Pros: They have 5 parking slots. Huzzah.
- Cons: No customer service, snobbish attitude, they don't care about getting your business.
great selection, good prices

Supergo is the best place in Southern California for high end racng bikes and mountain bikes. Very knowledgeable staff and wide selection. Particularly deep discounts on discontinued/older models. Great mail order business as well for people who know what they are looking for.
