like hot rock massage, great place, much more reasonable murad, nice flavored spa water, warm tub, favorite massage theripist, worst facialspa service
Nice but too expensive. I had a facial, and it was good, however It was too expensive and really isn't worth the amount I spent.
Relaxation.
Only ever gone for the massages and there are a few different ones from Swedish to athletic/deep tissue.
On all my visits, I've been happy with the services and left happy and relaxed.
wasn't great and to much money!. It's wasn't HORRIBLE but it wasn't an "aaaaa" moment either. It's just too much money when there are other places nearby that are MUCH CHEAPER but your body feeeels like it spent a LOT! People are kinda snooty too. I'm not from here but it seems that places like this almost want you to feel privileged for being there instead of thankful for your business!
Okay - for people who like massages.
If my Burke Williams experience had begun with the luxurious 30-minute birthday bath and ended with a quart of the delectable cucumber water, this would be at least a four star review. Flavored spa water is nice. Soothing baths with jets and aromatic additions are too. It's the massage part that, no pun intended, puts a kink in the experience for me -- someone who hates massages.
A 50-minute rub down that should be bliss is torture for someone of my ticklish/thin-skinned nature. Especially for $100+. Yet even so, if I was the type of person who could relax when being touched and probed by another person, Burke Williams would probably be the place I'd want to go for a massage.
And not just because of the cucumber water and oversized robes.
Big Disappointment. Made an appointment a week in advance for seaweed wraps for my mom and I on my birthday and was assure that the seaweed wrap would be available (in December, they had stopped the treatment because they couldn't receive the product). Late in the day prior a message was left saying that the treatment was not available as they did not have the product (funny considering they require 24 hr cancellation of appts). When I called to work out another option, I learned that they knew of the problem several days before they called to notified us of the problem. On top of this, there was not offer of true apology. I cancelled and was luckily able to reschedule for seaweed wraps at Murad (even though the notice was extremely late) that were wonderful and much more reasonable (even got 20% off because it is my birthday month). Let's just say that Burke has lost my business.
Bookings are done at corporate headquarters in culver city for ALL locations (call center) AND the right hand is not intelligent enough to communicate to the left....
it's a great place to work as a therapist out of school, which I did 10 years ago, however unfortunate for many unhappy massage connoisseurs
if you want a quality session, humble healing environment, not a spa

Great overall Spa with long list of services. I spend more time on the weekends at Burke Wiliams than I should admit. I appreciate that I can usually call on a Thursday or Friday and still get the services and appointment times I want. Hayley is my favorite facialist and China is my favorite massage theripist but I've found the majority of the staff to be experienced and woth the trip and money.
Ditch urban stress with more spa services available than there are body parts to relax..
In Short
Patrons in spa-provided full-length robes and sandals can choose from a wide array of services for the face and body. Massages are available in many forms including shiatsu, deep tissue, Reiki, reflexology and more. Other spa services include facials, body wraps, spa manicures and pedicures, spa baths and facial and body waxing. The salon offers cuts, color, highlights and scalp massage.
So so experience and odd layout.
I went to the Santa Monica location for a pregnancy massage. Check in was fine as was the brief tour of the space. One thing that is nice that BW does is that because pregnant women can't make use of the "perks" such as the sauna or whirlpool, they include a milk bath instead.
So, I'm "picked up" in the communal room by my masseuse. We make our way down some stairs to a hallway with several individual rooms. The massage was fine, nothing special. My problem comes after the massage. When you're relaxed, calm and are ready to head back to the the main area for either your next treatment or to shower, BW Santa Monica has a surprise for you - you have to climb three flights of stairs!!!! How does this keep you relaxed!? This is true for anyone but especially if you're pregnant when being winded is common even when walking on flat ground! I was shocked and it seems totally counter-intuitive to me to have the floor plan this way. They should have either an escalator or elevator instead of making their clients hike after being in a state of deep relaxation. I don't think I'll be going back...
if you want a quality session for half the cost in a humble healing center (not spa)

The New Burke Williams?. My sister got me a gift certificate to Burke Williams for my birthday and I have to say it was the best gift she has given to me in a long time. My experience at Burke Williams was relaxing and memorable. I have made several appointments for myself since my first experience but I have come to realize that it is just too far for me to be going to all the time! I live in Hollywood and am looking for something a bit closer so I don't have to stress myself out with traffic on my way to and from the spa. I hear the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel is about to open a spa, Spa Luce. If it is anything like Burke Williams, I am definitely looking forward to its arrival.
Burke Williams Spa Expereince was Below Average. I decided to go for a relaxing spa treatment. I opted for the relaxation massage with a mud bath. When I arrived at the spa it was in total chaos-- everybody was running around, talking loudly, with wall to wall people. One should be transported into a calming environment the minute you walk through the spa doors. My massage was lack luster-- like having someone lightly rub my back with oil. Even after I asked her to go deeper she didn't. The entire time I could hear people talking outside! Then I had my mud bath in a tub with a curtain around it! I paid $30.00 extra to sit in a public luke warm tub, to hear the attendants conversation! There was no ambiance, no privacy, no pampering just run of the mill herd them in and out. Don't waste your time or money at this average facility.
if you want a superb session no frills healing environment (not a spa) however, an amazing therapist...
