Editorial Review for Sam's by the Beach – by Citysearch Staff

In Short
Despite its proximity to the ocean, Sam's doesn't have a view or beachy ambiance, nor is it populated by shorts-wearing, sandy-haired surfers. Instead, this quiet bistro attracts an upscale crowd, with its soothing green walls and leopard print banquettes. For the game lover, choices include a roasted duck marget with cherry sauce, or a roasted smoked quail stuffed with apple and goat cheese in a port wine sauce. Predominantly French desserts--crepes suzette and crème brulee--end the meal.

The first time I went to Sam's was for my girlfriend's bday in march 08, and we loved it so much that we already went back twice since that, each time with different friends and each time they raved about the place!. If you love food and you want to experience a restaurant that offers Mediteraneen / Californian flavorfull Cuisine, europeean / NY style Service in a dark, cosy, romantic atmosphere, this is your place. I don't think there is any other place like this one in Los Angeles.

Pros: food, full bar, great wine selection, service, atmosphere

Cons: busy on weekends

My fiance and I went to this restaurant on a whim, and what a pleasant surprise! From the friendly and prompt service to the delicious food, we were blown away. We shared a couple appetizers and the bouillabaisse ( AMAZING). This is truly a wonderful place.

Pros: the food

Cons: none
