a unique and funky canyon restaurant. Silvio is a great host and sets the warm and inviting tone. The food is good, the coffee is hot, and it's fun to hang out there, especially at breakfast time. If you want to make a change from the menu it's no problem. Pleasant service. You run into canyon characters and overhear interesting conversation. And he's got free wireless so you can do some work, too, or check your email. Silvio is German-Portuguese and his wife is Brazilian which adds a bit of flavor. Altogether, highly recommended.

Funky Food - In a Bad Way. Patrick's Roadhouse holds some kind of sporadic appeal for my husband. We tried it a few years ago, but when he wanted to try it again, all I could remember was that the the dining area is narrow--which meant the food was not memorable. We went this morning and it is now "off the list." The coffee was okay, but the food was all off -- my husband's pancake was rubbery, his eggs, English muffin, and potatoes were cold. He had asked for peanut butter, and when the food arrived the waitress said "they're looking for the peanut butter." Never eat something that hasn't been used in so long the cook doesn't know where it is! My veggie omelet was a weirdly managed mix of cold broccoli, steaming hot spinach and lukewarm eggs, my potatoes were cold, and it all tasted like funky, old oil. There was no orange juice. The tomato juice I ordered was forgotten (just one lonely waitress, so I forgave that and was glad not to have to consume anything else there) and the pretty-looking partial slice of cantaloupe was tasteless. If it isn't worth eating, don't put it on the plate for decoration, please. I couldn't wait to get home to brush & get rid of the lingering bad taste.

Patrick's did seem "family friendly," but if I had children, I would not want them to eat the food. We got there early, so parking was okay. It was nice to look out and see the ocean at breakfast, but I'd rather see it from a better restaurant.

Here's to the Governator!. I have been coming to Patrick's Roadhouse for 6 years and it's my 2nd home. The employees are my 2nd family and the breakfast is the best in southern California. Especially the Governator special. The coffee is the richest I've ever had, food is fast, service is friendly and Silvio, the owner, makes sure everything comes out perfect!

Friendly Funky. My daughter and I went to Patrick's on Sunday March 9th at around 10:00 am. We found parking on the street about two blocks down. The atmosphere at Patrick's was just right for our taste. My daughter lives Santa Monica, we found Patrick's to be funky . Both our meals were flavorful and we ate every bit. Silvio, the owner, was as nice as he could be to us and everyone else who came in. He stopped and asked how everything was and sat down as soon as I said I was from Michigan. We had a very enjoyable chat. We had numerous people wait on us and coffee refills were right on the money. Loved the funkiness. No need to dress up one . Give it a try. I know I will the next time in the area.

Wonderful restaurant - just like I wanted it to be!!!. My husband and I went to Patrick's on Saturday October 20, 2007 at around 10:30 am. We found parking on the street about a block down. The atmosphere at Patrick's is just right for our taste. We lived in the Bay Area for a long time and found Patrick's to be funky like so many in SF and Berkeley. We shared a Red omelet and an Ahi burger. Both were flavorful and we ate every bit. We sat in the first booth so we could see all the action in the kitchen. Silvio, the owner, was as nice as he could be to us and everyone else who came in. We had numerous people wait on us with coffee refills and table clearing right on the money. Patrick's has a lot of room in the second room along with a small outside area. Loved the funkiness and wonderful food. No pretense and no need to dressup one little bit. Give it a try. Lynn

Bad Service, not worth the wait!. After waiting in line to get into this place for 30mins, we finally were seated to see about 15 empty tables. So not off to a good start. It took another 20 mins to place our order, which they messed up. How do you mess up an omlette? I sat through my entire meal with an empty cup of coffee which took me asking for twice. When it came time to get the check we of course had to flag down the waiter and he told us he would be right back with it...then we asked him again after another ten mins had passed and he looked at us like we were idiots and told us the check is at the register where you pay! Ugh. They are very understaffed and unsympathetic about the poor service. Oh and on another note the part about having tons of parking...they are building a gas station next to it so the free parking in front is longer. There is a Mc Donalds about two miles down PCH, skip this place and stop by the Micky D's!

Year After Year - Still The Same (Thumbs Up!). Once a year I go to Patrick and I love it! I get more than enough servings which I can never finish.

The service is great, food is awesome. Look forward to Santa Monica Beach & Patrick's in 2007.

Long time favorite. I have never been to place that has better food and great people than Patrick's. I've been going there for many years and it seems to taste better everytime. I recommend trying their omeletts for breakfast and their famous melts for lunch. Be careful on trying the granola with mixed fresh fuit and yogurt because it is highly addicting and I haven't been able to find another restaurant that can make it the same.

Beloved beachside breakfast nook suited for funky pre-sun fun and fare.. In Short
The nautical-meets-Victorian interior has been a quirky choice for a quarter of a century. Solo diners grab a seat at the front counter or on the long, parking-lot adjacent patio. Arnold Schwarzenegger photos abound; he's a fan, as are other industry-ites who flock to the "Barney's Beanery of the beach." The food is massive and hearty, like the Farmer's Breakfast, an explosion of an omelette stuffed with every possible ingredient, including hash browns.
