Consistent for Sixty Years. When I want to reflect on my life, I always come to Callahan's where the quality meal always matches the quality memories. I was eight years old when I first visited this wonderful place and it has been one of the constants in my existence ever since. My mother brought me here and I have taken friends, lovers and even a couple of wives here and none of them have ever complained. Be prepared for extra large portions and the friendliest staff that I've ever encountered. Table manners be damned...this is the kind of comfortable eating place that expects you to lick your plate.

Last of its kind in the area. How can you go wrong with a place that has been in business since 1924! The place has a lot of its original charm . Its refreshing to go a place that is not a chain and see a true family run business. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu is excellent and you can get it the way you want it. A full dinner can be ordered with baked potato and vegetables. Breakfast lunch or dinner you will need to have this on your list of local favorites in SM.

My favorite breakfast place!. My friends and I live pretty close to this place and come here as a rule every Saturday morning. Most weeks also Sunday mornings and dinners during the week. The food is made custom fresh to order and the waitstaff is super friendly. It's a family run place so you will also quickly feel like family. I love this place. The food is real and the service is great. I no longer live in Santa Monica, but I make it a point to go eat there and say hi to the owners every time I visit. Highly highly recommend for a good hardy meal..

Very rude staff. I live around the street from this place. The food is your typical diner fare, not great, but cheap, so i keep going back. However, today was my last. After waiting 15 minutes to have our order taken, we waited another 30 minutes to be served. We could not flag our waitress for out check, so simply went to the register. The man we encountered at first just flat out ignored me. When i asked him again if we could check out, he was unbelievably rude. When I asked for the manager, he began to yell at me. I will not be going back.

Sorry to see another good place go down hill. Food is so so. If you like greasy stale bacon and low budge potatoes this is the place for you. There service is slow but they get the job done. More concerned with filling there own bellies and family?s then of there own customers. I wonder about there A rating the place looks bad, very old and dirty looking. Over all years ago this place was good it has gone down hill and most of all they lost that family friendly feeling, looks like the next generation of family has come in and starting running things a little different. Less class and style more attitude and youth. Very sad...
