Took my husband there for Father's Day breakfast. Absolutely horrible. I ordered Eggs Benedict. The sauce was orange and thick, the supposed Canadian bacon was thick and charred, the muffin was burned. His Belgian waffle was good, however the breakfast sausage was a horrible shade of yellow. He took 1 bite and sent it back. Overall, a horrible breakfast.

Best Matzo Ball soup in LA. Let’s start with the noodles. Instead of overwhelming the bowl with larger noodles that tend to get in the way, Fromin’s serves up uber-thin shards like the frayed ends of a comfy pair of blue jeans.

Smaller noodles provide a sort of net, allowing the warm, rich broth to climb aboard with every spoonful. And the soup is worthy of inclusion in every bite with a savory balance between the saltiness of the chicken and sweetness of the carrots.

Best of all, is the glorious ball. The matzo is rich with golden corn flavors and a subtle hint of nuttiness as if the chef had crushed an almond into the meal. The texture and balance of the orb is spot-on with a softness on the outside that gives way to a density inside allowing the sphere to stay just firm enough all the way to the bottom of the bowl.

Oh, and it’s also the least expensive bowl I've found. Mazel nosh.

You call this a Reuben?. Maybe I'm spoiled, but this was one of the worst corned beef ruebens ever. The meat was lean, but almost tasteless. The portion was not very generous, potato salad and cole slaw were awful. I expected something like this from Denny's. And who said they were cheap? Is $12.95 cheap? The waitress was very nice and the service was good. Problem was with the food.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice Pastrami!. once the food appeared it was a lunch special made in heaven: 1/2 Sandwich and a Bowl Of Soup for $11+tip. Oh yeah, they threw in coleslaw as well, which was, as a coleslaw connoisseur, I would say it was pretty good. On my plate also were BOTH kinds of pickles, the old (well done) ones and the new (rare) ones. Niiiiice touch that signifies the authenticity of this establishment..

0 for 1. NO reason to go again.. got the pastrami (When in rome, ehh)? awful. had a taste of a friends corned beef hash (brutal), and my wife's salad (horrrrrrible). never again.

I had such high expectations b/c the place was packed and came highly recommended from self-proclaimed, "deli master"...

Best breakfast anywhere. For all those, who can't start a day without a good breakfast, this is a fabulous spot!

We were there on a Monday morning when the place was almost empty. My friend

ordered pancakes with maple sirup and strawberrie jam and I had a potato pancake

along with a vegetable omelette. A bagle with butter and jam came aditionally to my

order. The pancakes were warm, tender and fluffy while straberrie jam came alongside as

much as requested. My potato pancake was crispy fried and spicy while the vegetable

omlette (which based on eggs) contained generous pieces of carrots, cauliflower,

onions, muchrooms, broccoli came heavenly fluffy and lavish. We drank fresh juices

instead of coffee. The service was very kind, chatty and attentive.

Best lox in Los Angeles. I rotate among the various delis in Los Angeles and consitently come back to Fromin's when I'm craving a bagel, lox and cream cheese. They know how to give you a shmear and the lox is just perfection. Salty but not too much. Smooth and silky texture. I can't really attest to their other foods since is the only thing I order but others who come with me and order other things have also been very satisfied. The staff there is also very friendly and my coffee cup stays full.

The throwback delicatessen decor incorporates a blend of '60s holdovers like brown carpet, faux wood paneling and Formica tables. A similarly traditional deli menu offers half-sandwich specials--chopped liver, tuna salad, turkey, pastrami--accompanied by matzo ball or mushroom-barley soup. Breakfast items are also available.

Finally -- A Good, Cheap Deli!. I love a good deli, but in LA, they're all so darn costly! Froman's has the best food, I've found, and the prices are still very reasonable. I recommend the chicken taco salad -- not what you'd expect from a Jewish deli.

Forget about Fromin's. After hearing good things, we ordered Fromin's for a late business dinner and the food was downright terrible. The chicken my salad was undercooked and resembled rubber, and the salad dressing was all oil and very little flavor. The other entrees we ordered did not impress at all. Not only was the food bad, but it took 3 phone calls to get the order right. Lastly, we ordered chocolate cake and were given some sort of brown liquid substance in a cup--yuck! Don't waste your time or money at Fromin's.
