The Scene – This dimly lit, corner bar borrows its decor scheme from a '70s-era lounge during Christmas season, with twinkling lights and tinsel hanging year round. Red vinyl booths, mirrored walls and a long, dark wood bar round out the modest and masculine interior. A no-nonsense bartender pours martinis and scotch to a mostly male crowd playing interactive trivia during the day. By 10pm, the place is overrun with a lively UCLA crowd pounding beers and dancing the night away. – – The Draw – Catch talented blues artists every Friday through Monday night. The intimate…

Not from around these parts but.....
by Adrian Everett
Although I am on The East Coast I hear very good things about this place from a certain brother of mine who is out there in Santa Monica. His name is Travis Everett but he goes by the Karaoke Stage name KJ Trav Loaf. He is a dead on impersonator of Heavy Duty Rock Legend Meat Loaf. Back here in Virginia he was and still is one of the most indemand and beloved KJ's especially here in his homebase of Hampton Roads and the small Northern Virginia Town of Woodbridge. His Karaoke show is top notch and can and will make any bar he works at and for the $$$$$$$. The Gas Lite would do good to simply dump the rest and hire the best.
GAS LITE - HORRIBLE KARAOKE - FRIDAY APRIL 15, 2011

ORRIBLE KARAOKE FRIDAY NIGHTS - APRIL 2011
by TadPiermont at Citysearch
Had read some decent reviews of GasLite elsewhere, so gave it a shot, Friday night April 15, 2011.
WHAT A COMPLETE SHOCKING DISAPPOINTMENT.
This is not to be racist by any means, but the KJ was a total rich white boy trying to be a rapper. The music was horrible. The regulars obviously take full precedence over any newcomers.
We put in a song request and never got called. The same awful singers, if you can call them singers, kept singing.
Had NEVER heard any of this rap music in the first place, so it wasn't even enjoyable rap, but just a lot of screaming and screeching.
It felt like we went to the wrong house for someone's party - felt as if we didn't belong there, weren't welcome there, and could NOT WAIT to get the hell out of there.
The KJ really seemed like a Vanilla Ice-Eminem wannabee.
DO. NOT. GO. ON. FRIDAY. NIGHTS. RUN!!!
Never again

It was the worst karaoke place I've ever been to. It's small, crowded, and the guys who work there are unfriendly. We signed up to sing a song and waited 3 hours, and when it finally was our turn the guy who worked there stole it from us and gave it to some random girls, and when we complained he called the guards and they escorted us out. Yeah, I was glad to leave so I could find some real karaoke bar where you actually get to sing.
Great Dive Karaoke Bar
by john81
This place is one of the best Karaoke bars in LA. It seems to be always packed by 9:00pm or earlier.
The crowd is completely random and fun. Both times I went I was completely entertained the entire time. The drinks are reasonably priced and it has a very dive feel to it.
You can tell the regulars as it seems the get priority when it comes to singing. My group had a hard time actually getting called up on stage.
If your on the West Side of town I would suggest stopping in.
- Pros: Awsome people watching
- Cons: Good luck if you want to sing
Sticky, Smelly, Good Time
by A Mo
This place is a total dive, but a great place to gi with a bunch of friends, throw one back, and laugh your ass off. If you're looking for a place to have a good time on the westside, it definitely deserves STRONG consideration.
